AP News Alert
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) -- The son of Hunter S. Thompson says the author shot himself to death at his Aspen-area home.
Grow up.
I hope the joint is jumpin' wherever you are.

Agreed. He totally broke the mold with the stuff he did. It's sad...I just wonder why he'd finally off himself.

Yeah, I read HST. He made me shake my head and laugh and shake my head again.
Drugs, booze, and firearms. Not a great mix. Can't say his ending surprises me....
No Dope, No Hope.
I just can't think of anything to say right now that would be sensitive to the nature of this - I guess we'll have to wait and see what the whole story is when revealed.
Prayers for his family, and comfort for those who seek it in this time...
I never stated that I "wasn't interested" in this story or this thread: indeed, I'm quite interested, just not the way you wish me to be. Now, why don't you "ignore" my posts in this thread on the matter if you dislike them? That's the more logical way to go, to coin a phrase, I think...
My prayers go out for the family and friends of Mr. Thompson.
The last chapter has been written.
He had a compound?
Kerry lost. Get over it.
Seems valid to have a differing opinion about Hunter. I liked the "Fear and Loathing" books myself. Don't know if it was an accident or not. Maybe Hunter had said all he wanted to say. He did have some dark edges and I can understand how he's not everyone's cup of tea. The IMDB reveals some of darker bio details that give some glimpse into where his head was at in later years. R.I.P Hunter

You don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about, or whom.
For a "FReeper," you sure do seem to be, alongside your allies, to be shedding a disproportionate number of tears for a dead leftist scribbler...very curious.
Hunter's "Rum Diary" is in production starring Johnny Depp. The result may be a good epitath.

Bush won. Get over it, troll.
Why would you pray for him? He's dead.
Allow me to take this opportunity to share some truth with people here.
I've never understood the (what has to be) platitude offered by the (what has to be) spiritually ignorant (no offense intended) in saying that they would pray for someone "after" they have already died.
With the exception of perhaps a desire (out of an obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit) to raise someone from the dead as a testimony to the Power of Jesus, there is no prayer that could be uttered on Earth or in Heaven that can in any way affect his existence at this point.
Learn God's Word.
2nd Samuel 12;16...then David prayed to God on behalf of his baby Son; and he fasted and lay awake all night on the ground. His Father, Uncles, Great-Uncles and Grandfather tried to console him and pick him up, but he was unwilling to listen to them and he would not eat.
Then after a week had passed, the child died. And David's servants were scared to tell him, because they said, "When the child was still alive, he would not listen to our voice. So how can we tell him now that the boy is dead? He might do himself harm!"
But David saw that his servants were whispering amongst themselves, and he perceived that the boy was dead; so he said to them, "Is my Son dead?" And they replied, "Yes".
So David got up, washed, anointed himself, and changed his clothes. Then he went to the Church and sang songs and praised God. After that he went back to the palace, and he called for his servants to bring him food. They set it before him and he ate.
Then his servants said to him, "We do not understand. What are you doing? While your Son was alive, you fasted, prayed and wept for him; but now that he is dead, you get up and act as if nothing is wrong?"
David responded, "While my Son was still alive, I fasted, prayed and wept for him because who knows, the LORD may be gracious to me, and he might live. But He did not let him live. My Son is indeed dead; why should I fast, pray or weep now? Can I bring him back? Eventually someday I will die and go to him, but he is not going to return to me now."
