Support the Troops--Wear Red on Fridays
I am writing to encourage everyone to begin wearing something red every Friday. Whether you want the troops to come home or support their presence in foreign lands, we should all show our gratitude for their sacrifices.
Please help spread the word to your family, friends and co-workers, that Americans support the troops and their families. Even a small gesture like this can boost their morale and let them know we are thankful for their service.

Actually for the 2008 election the GOP will be in blue. The red/blue rule is that every four years the color of the incumbent changes. So whoever wins in 2008 will be red in 2012; whoever wins in 2012 will be blue in 2016, etc.
does it count if my eyes are red on Friday night?????.....
they should have kept the GOP at blue now and forever..it goes better with us plus logically only the Dems can really be REDS
I agree... the right-wing party should never be in red, that's counterintuitive.
This is not a Republican/Democrat thing. This is a support the troops thing. The color red does not relate to the parties.
I had hoped for more support for this idea.
or is it sat. morning?
you got my support.
and i am hanging the idea on my office door.
I think it should be khaki. I have no red clothes, and khaki is the color our troops are wearing over there.
Why is it ALWAYS red? I look horrible in red :)
Even though red is the color of Commies, I have kind of gotten used to the red state phenomenon. Face it, red is hearty, strong, bold and optimistic while blue is pale, whiny and the color representing sadness. Just like today's Dems!
IMHO we should give it a special name, like call Fridays "Troops' Day" (or something to designate that it is a day to show support of the military). I know if this was happening all over America it would be a wonderful encouragement for our service men and women. Besides, all you men who have patriotic ties could wear them more than once or twice a year!
I volunteer on a military base; they appreciate even the smallest gesture that shows we care. If you really get something going (and, especially, if we have some pictures) I believe I can get a story published in the base newspaper - that will spread the word like wildfire through the military. But, then, we would have to actually keep it alive. Are we prepared to do that?
Remember, in many offices Friday is often "dress down day," when employees are permitted to be in very casual dress, often jeans. So wearing any Red, White, and Blue would be easy to achieve for most. Just my personal thoughts. Let me know if this "flies" and I will help in any way I can. I love our military.
Does red underwear count?...
My red suit is at the cleaner's. I'll pick it up tomorrow.
BTW Anyone know if the yellow ribbon bumper stickers are available as a metal pin?
Sure beats those yellow ribbons. Who thought that up? Yellow is a nasty color, associated with cowardice and lately with hostages.
Red, white and blue would be clear to everyone. If not every day, then particularly on Saturday and Sunday when people are out and about and many more people can see you besides your fellow workers.
Agree totally - red it is and I'm tired of the left co-opting everything, even colors. Let them get another color.
The American Legion in my home town is working on this.
All we need is for everyone to tell 10 people or so about the idea. Get them to write letters to their local newspapers about this.
Many are already doing this.
