Iraqi men are seen through a Valentine’s Day display in a shop in Baghdad on Sunday. Valentine’s Day has never been a widely marked holiday in Iraq, and at a time when Islamic extremists are fighting alongside loyalists of former dictator Saddam Hussein, public displays of affection are risky.

Heck in Iraq just being in or near a Police Station is risky.

U.S. Army soldiers with the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, search for insurgents in Mosul, Iraq, on Monday.

Searching for insurgents in Iraq is in some ways similar to working for Terminix© in the US!

U.S. Navy Reservist Johnnie Chennault helps Mikal, 6, right, with his home work as Jakob, 2, looks on and Johnnie IV, 7, left, works on his math at home in Springfield, Tenn., on Friday. Chennault leaves soon for training, and will then be deployed to Iraq.

All Navy reservists are required to attend a course in scribbling before deploying to Iraq.

Joe Nemechek, driving the U.S. Army Chevrolet, holds onto his son John Hunter Nemechek, 7, dressed in Army fatigues, in pit row at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., prior to his qualifying run for the NASCAR Daytona 500, Sunday.

Go Army, and leave the driving to US!

U.S. Army Reserve Spc. Charles Henry, of Rockford, Mich., kisses his wife, Katherine, after arriving at the Kalamazoo Army Reserve Armory, Kalamazoo, Mich., Sunday night.

Honey, the new colored super glue was not intended to be used as a lip gloss.

U.S. Army soldiers with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Stryker Brigade Combat Team, direct their squad to return to the Stryker vehicle after conducting searches in Mosul, Iraq, on Feb. 7.

The 25th I D welcome wagon has been giving warm greetings to all of the new neighbors who have come to terrorize the locals.

U.S. Navy Hull Technician 2nd Class Chris McMann, right, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Eleven, Detachment Nine, rappels from an HH-60H Seahawk helicopter during a fast-rope training exercise aboard the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, in the Pacific Ocean, on Monday.

Gee, a Troop in an Explosive Disposal unit cannot even get a decent ride to the deck these days.

Joseph J. Taluto accepts the 42nd Infantry Division colors, marking the beginning of his command of Task Force Liberty, during the Task Force Danger to Task Force Liberty Transfer of Authority Ceremony in Tikrit, Iraq, on Monday.

If I ever go back in, I want to be a member of Task Force Party!

Iraqi Army Lt. Gen. Abdul Aziz Al Mufti and incoming commander Maj. Gen. Joseph J. Taluto cut a cake marking the start of Task Force Liberty and the command of the 42nd Infantry Division during the Task Force Danger to Task Force Liberty Transfer of Authority Ceremony in Tikrit, Iraq, on Monday.

Even Crockodile Dundee would have to concur "That is a knife."

Soldiers with Headquarters Company, 121st Signal Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, prepare to board one of two Chinook helicopters in Tikrit, Iraq, on Sunday for their return deployment to Germany.

Personally, I would prefer a deployment to Austria because I like the way that they say goodbye there.

Spc. Chymetra Ross, 27, of Rolling Fork, Miss., with Headquarters Company, 121st Signal Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, rests on her duffle bag in Tikrit, Iraq, on Sunday while waiting for a Chinook helicopter to transport her to her return deployment to Germany.

SPC. Ross has also recently been cast in the Army's upcoming theatrical presentation of the "The Invisible Woman" which is a remake of the Claude Rains classic.
