Backwards Flag at Grammys

I haven't seen/read of anyone asking Green Day or CBS why the flag was backwards behind the Green Day set at the Grammy Awards.

Doesn't CBS or the Grammy producers have any protocol people? If they did, did they know or care about these things? Or did they not want to stifle the Green Day's artistic expression?

Um, I'm not sure how you could say it is upside down when it is hanging vertically. Granted, there might be 'right way' or a 'wrong way' to hang a flag vertically, but any passing joe would probably not know that.

Now, if it was hanging horizontally and it was upside down, then more people might get it.

The blue field is always to the flag's own right when hanging vertically and on the left of the people facing it.

This flag is more suitable for them...more artsy. Peter Max does some nice work. He has some great 9/11 paintings on his website as well http://www.petermax.com Mr. Max donated an acrylic on canvas (valued at over over $25K) of this flag to the Heroes Red White & Blue Inagural Ball for auction to benefit wounded military heroes. He is a good patriot.

Yep, it wrong. The stars should be in the upper left, with the exception of aircraft and battle uniforms that have a flag emblazoned on the right hand side.

They should appear to be flying against the wind or forward.

Correct........

When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street
