Doesn't CBS or the Grammy producers have any protocol people? If they did, did they know or care about these things? Or did they not want to stifle the Green Day's artistic expression?

gonna sound naive here but,im pretty sure thats how you hang the flag vertical (anyone wanna prove me wrong please do)

I'd think it's a green day thing.

Um, I'm not sure how you could say it is upside down when it is hanging vertically. Granted, there might be 'right way' or a 'wrong way' to hang a flag vertically, but any passing joe would probably not know that.
Now, if it was hanging horizontally and it was upside down, then more people might get it.

At least they aren't burning it.

This flag is more suitable for them...more artsy.
Peter Max does some nice work. He has some great 9/11 paintings on his website as well http://www.petermax.com Mr. Max donated an acrylic on canvas (valued at over over $25K) of this flag to the Heroes Red White & Blue Inagural Ball for auction to benefit wounded military heroes. He is a good patriot.

The colour of the flag is wrong...it looks like what the Incredible Hulk has flying outside his lair.

I think everyone should be more concerned with the lyrics of that stupid song.

I'll bet the rent Green Day had something to do with it...a few weeks ago they were on a concert tour here in Germany, and they released a press announcement over AFN stating that, "they (Green Day)were in Germany to perform for the Germans, not the GI's, so they didn't want them at their concert"

The flag should be displayed flat, whether indoors or out. When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street. When festoons, rosettes or drapings are desired, bunting of blue, white and red should be used, but never the flag.- http://www.usa-flag-site.org/etiquette-display.shtml
