Annapolis, MD. (AP) If Democratic leaders want to conduct an investigation of an aide to Governor Ehrlich who was fired for circulating rumors about Mayor Martin O'Malley, the governor says they are welcome to do so.
Ehrlich told reporters in Annapolis today he would help out with an investigation of Joseph Steffen, who posted rumors on the Internet that the Baltimore mayor had had an affair. O'Malley and his wife, Catherine, denounced the rumors as despicable lies.
Ehrlich said it is clear that Steffen acted alone in repeating the rumors on the Internet. But Democratic leaders believe it was part of an orchestrated effort to spread rumors to hurt O'Malley, who is considered the top Democratic challenger to Ehrlich's bid for a second term next year.
But I betcha they don't....
Then you can count on this story going nowhere. The govenor should insist on an investigation to clear himself and his staff.
Clearing his staff is what got him in this situation in the first place.
I didn't know that he tried to clear the poster. I thought he just fired him. I still think that a full investigation is in order. An investigation which would include the veracity of the accusations against the mayor as well as the staffer.
You know, I've been comparing this whole escapade to how the leftwing media ghouls were positively drooling to get their hands on Jack Ryan's divorce proceedings in Illinois. It's truly disgusting how far they'll go to ruin a Republican and protect a Democrat. They are truly dishonest and dispicable people.
McGreevey: "Hey! Where's MY probe???"
bump!
I really think Dean is the coincidence in this matter.
You don't buy that it's a dem operative that set Steffen up here?
Great research!

OMG, I can't believe you put his telly and address on there. Now play fair, give us all your private info so every moron out there can send YOU presents too.
Oh, I do, (sorry, I was getting tired last night, not expressing well). Sadly, there's probably a Judas in the mix too. That betrayal karma is gonna bite a few butts, it is so deserved.
I would, however I am an impotent Republican official working for the Democrat Party under an assumed alias and can't afford my cover to be blown. ;)
