Yet another generation of spoiled europeans who have not learned their history lessons.
A long saaaaaaaad history.
Good grief. Of all the things to get worked-up about, you pick this?
I suppose you think this is appropriate. At least you're true to your handle/nom de guerre.
It was MARDI GRAS. Get a grip on yourself.
Who's the lady standing behind Uncle Sam, and why is she smiling?
President Bush dressed as Uncle Sam and mooning a young German maiden? This people are pathetically sophomoric and petty. If I were a German citizen with a functioning brain, I would be truly embarrassed due to the morons in my midst.

Well, I didn't mind so much when it was Clinton copping a feel from Lady Liberty.
Ich bin ein smearliner.
She represents Angela Merkel, an opposition leader.
What is sad is they don't know they are morons. They think they are O-So-Clever.
Lett hem enjoy their High School moment. It is a reminder to them of just how unimportant they are.
Maybe she represents Old Europe.
In the same way I am embarassed that people like michael moore, al frankin, hitlary and slick willie (to name just a few) are in our midst.
As far as I know, they don't go around making mocking floats about Germany and Schroeder in New Orleans.
My daughter is in Italy this semester and went to a Carnivale several weeks ago. While she enjoyed it, she said that a lot of the floats mocked our president and she was disturbed by it.
That's because Mardi Gras in New Orleans is apolitical, and I suspect that there are rules for building the floats. I wonder how offending you would find the political cartoons that appeared in U.S. newspapers around the turn of the century.
We lived in Sicily when I was in the Navy. The whole purpose of these floats are to be outrageously silly and offensive. I remember one with the Pope sitting on a toilet throwing toilet paper to the sidelines. I don't know that this one is much worse than what our own editorial cartoonists draw.
