Whites 'Leaving Cities as Migrants Move In' (British white flight)
The Telegraph ^ | February 10, 2005 | Philip Johnston

Posted on 02/09/2005 6:15:01 PM PST by quidnunc

White and ethnic minority communities are becoming increasingly separated by growing levels of population movement and immigration, a report says today.

More white families are moving from London to the regions while many immigrants arrive in the capital from overseas, the think-tank Migrationwatch says.

The change in 10 years has been "extraordinarily rapid'', with 606,000 more people moving out of London than arrived from elsewhere in the country. In the same period, a net 726,000 immigrants arrived in the capital.

Other regions, notably the South West, South East and East Midlands are having to expand rapidly to deal with the white outflow from London, putting strain on their housing, transport, education and health systems.

Of the migration from London, almost 300,000 people moved to the South West between 1993 and 2003 and 181,000 went to the east of England.

Migrationwatch says the changes, even for a city as diverse and as vibrant as London, are "unprecedented''.

It says: "Migration within the UK is mainly from areas of high ethnic minority population to those with predominantly white populations.

"The effect is a rapid increase in the ethnic minority composition of some boroughs, resulting from an outflow of the white population and an inflow of African and Asian international migrants.

Have the crime statistics changed as the demographics have changed? Are numbers of crimes per capita in various categories up or down?

Famous dog tag recorded by Alexander Pope:

"I am her Highness' dog at Kew:
Pray tell me sir, whose dog are you?"

"I wonder if this will have the same impact on British politics that it had on US politics?"

Sure. In the mid-50s I was born in Newark, New Jersey. My family moved to the suburbs from where I watched Newark burn down twice in the 60's. The Puerto Ricans manned the perimeter between there and where we lived. They meant business and things remained very peaceful.

Now I live 3000 miles away in another suburb- from L.A. All sorts of people live here and we rarely see each other. Everybody just works too long.

What do you mean? The suburbs of NYC and Boston vote Democratic as well, albeit not in as high numbers. The suburbs of Chicago became more Democratic due to the outflow from that city.

Mostly started in 50s, London Transport for example recruiting bus drivers etc in the West Indies. Asian immigration, first from old east Africa (thrown out of Kenya, Uganda etc) then Indian subcontinent started in 60s on a larger scale. The one politico who raised an alarm, Enoch Powell, was thrown out of his party, branded racist etc (very colourful un-PC speech) but most of his predictions have come true. There hasn't been a serious parliamentary debate on the subject since. Lots of smaller groups too. Now it's a big mess especially when you add fanatical imams to the mix.

British immigration policy is not very selective. It's way to lax.
