Rush Greeted Like Rock Star
NewsMax ^ | February 9, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/09/2005 9:21:23 AM PST by Kaslin

America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.

"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."

The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."

That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.

Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.

Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."

2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.

"My brother was in Nam in '69. He doesn't talk any of his tour of duty. In fact, I think most vets do not, unless the subject comes up of their particular experiences relating to the conversation."

I never did either.

UNTIL 9/11 and then Hanoi Kerry

"Be very careful on how far you want to milk this "self pity" crap......."

What "self pity"?

Show me where I said anything about pity?

From my FR profile

I VOW to the 58,000 + Brothers and Sisters on
The Viet Nam Wall who never came home
and to those who died at home from injuries and
from broken hearts.

"I will do everything I LEGALLY can
to expose Hanoi Kerry once and for all.

I will not tire, I will not falter,
and I will not fail.

I solemnly vow to do all I can to restore your honor
until I give my last breath on earth."

LOL.

Here's an exchange from earlier:

I asked you:

Not much of a researcher or protector of the Constitution, are you? After all, he's been in the Senate for 2 decades. If this is such a life and death matter, why did you wait so long?

You replied:

    I have other obligations.

Why would I be interested in somebody from MA?

Uh, yea. Heck of a vow.

Oh, for lawds sake, why don't you get your own radio show and then YOU can rant all you want. I doubt that anyone would listen long, though, because you are sooooo boring.

Now stop being such a mean-spirited, right-wing attacking conservative, Conservababe. :) hehehe!

I'm only kidding!

Are they sure that was actually Rush who was speaking?

Yeah, but maybe he wasn't talking about Scwarzenegger. Maybe he was talking about something else. You know how these journalists are.

No, first you have to have an audience to listen or read your tomes.

Boy. Are these words true. Really true.

They don't watch the news and don't really know the issues. They watch Idol. Hillary's a big liar and has the ability to TRICK the masses.

This covers most libs and most moderates. People that don't know the issues. Good points, Doc.

I was just looking at the picture you posted of the Maha Rushie. He really is a handsome, distinguished-looking man since he lost weight. Have you ever noticed that when the lefties or the media post a picture of him, it's always one of his old, fat pictures?

The USS Corry sailed from Norfolk in Aug'68 & returned Apr'69.

What TGYC is attempting to do is identify himself with the true Swift Boat Vets via assimiliation simply because he "May" have helped service such boats while stationed on the Corry when they were deployed off the coast of Vietnam. Much the same way as I would attempt to identify myself with the real Vietnam Army vets simply because I served in Panama from 69 - 72. Never once have I ever considered myself a Vietnam vet...nor do I have the right to do so!

TGYC is annoyingly tooting someone else's horn and quite frankly, I'm getting tired of it.

Well you did question IF I was in Viet Nam

Also ask redrock, I met him on 3 different occasions.

Last being Sept 2004

FYI Both Jim Rob and redrock are Viet Nam Vets.
