Ken Blackwell: An Extraordinary Individual

...In the State of Ohio there is one such remarkable person who I have known for a couple of decades. He is getting ready to run for Governor of Ohio. His name is Ken Blackwell. He is serving as Secretary of State of Ohio, after having served two successful terms as State Treasurer.

The few Blacks who have been elected as Republicans, either to the U.S. Congress or to State Legislatures, win with almost all White votes. Ken Blackwell is a Black man, who received 50% or more of the Black vote in his latest run a couple of years ago.

You may very well have seen Ken Blackwell in action. As Secretary of State he handled the election procedures and results in the 2004 election.

The leftist Blacks, such as Jesse Jackson, and other leftists, such as Barbara Boxer, already are attacking Blackwell. What seems to be behind their message is that he is a disgrace to his race by being a Republican and if he were a genuine Black he would have found a way for John Kerry to win in Ohio.

We can thank Ken Blackwell for the fact that we are not still in court over the 2004 election. When a Clinton appointee to the Federal Judiciary in Toledo, two weeks before the general election, ruled that voters did not have to vote in their own precinct but could show up anywhere they pleased, Blackwell went to the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and won the case, which upheld Ohio law. Had that case not been won there would have been double, maybe triple, the number of provisional ballots, some of which likely would be in dispute today.

"...You will recall that John Kerry had 20,000 volunteer attorneys ready to be dispatched anywhere necessary in order to deliver the election for him. The Kerry camp had concluded that Ohio would be the place where they were needed. Blackwell went on television on Election Day repeatedly urging Ohioans to be patient and civil while casting their votes. On election night Blackwell many times went on television assuring the people of Ohio that every vote would be counted and that the election would be determined by the voters and not by lawyers and judges. The Blackwell strategy worked. That is why Kerry conceded so quickly. When all was said and done, Ohio had the highest validation rate of provisional ballots in the country...."

long read, but worth it.

If Blackwell has an election fund, I would contribute to it and would ask others to do so. This is a fine man.

Jesse Jackson is trying to tear down Ken Blackwell? Whose policies would most benefit African Americans? Here is a picture of Jesse Jackson marching with N.O.W. (National Organization of Women, a liberal feminist group) members against Welfare Reform, along with the results of the reforms they opposed. State Reform took effect around 1992-1994 and the National Bill was passed in 1996. The Republicans swept the house in 1994 promising a ‘Contract with America’. People are the same the world over. It is the political structure and governmental interference that make all the difference. Get Government out of people’s lives and they will succeed. To believe people cannot succeed without government ‘help’ is to subscribe to what President Bush calls, ‘the soft bigotry of low expectations’. The reason they aren’t succeeding is BECAUSE of the government help, which only serves to subsidize poverty and single motherhood! For some reason, saying these things and passing bills that help millions of people out of poverty is said by the left to be ‘cruel’, ‘hardnosed’ and ‘racist’.

That's OK, dearie...I'm sure you've thought of worse, LOL!

Honestly, though, I would back Blackwell for our next governor in Ohio. We've had enough of RINO's.

Ken Blackwell has my support. In a state rife with RINOs, it's great to have a principled option. He will be a great governor and a great future leader on the national scene.

Ken Blackwell also has been an opponent of the State’s spending binge and the higher taxes needed to pay for it. He angered the establishment, including Governor Taft, by circulating a petition which would give the voters a chance to repeal the increase in their “temporary tax.” The Wall Street Journal editorial page dubbed Blackwell the “Arnold of Ohio.”

The most important part of the article (IMO).

I didn't read the article but I sure was impressed by this guy during the fiasco the Democrats tried to pull in Ohio. He went to court multiple times and beat them EVERY time I think. Republicans need to put this guy up for some MAJOR office in Ohio (Senate/House).

'‘the soft bigotry of low expectations’'

oooh, I'd forgotten that great turn of phrase...describes just what some groups allowed themselves to be cornered into by the likes of Jesse Jackson ..

I missed a chance to hear him speak a few weeks ago and I'm kicking myself.
I think he is the future of our party and our ideas in Ohio.

Hey White Guy..........THIS is the distinguished, honorable gentleman you said did a 'pathetic' job in dealing with the Ohio election.

Care to change your mind about that, and change your 'conservative' view that Jesse Jackson was right and Blackwell was wrong?

"I'm ready to work for him if he runs for governor of Ohio."

He IS running, and I'm contributing. I have received his early fund raiser letters, so I can verify that he is in it for real. He also said long ago, like years back, that he is aiming for the Presidency in 2016!

Blackwell is an authentic Conservative, who has shown his mettle in opposing RINO A-hole Taft's confiscatory tax betrayals, as well as supporting Life and the Second Amendment; and, like Katherine Harris, defeating the 'rats worst attempts at electoral fraud.

Remember the criminal Kerry hole who said, "If all the votes are counted, Kerry WILL WIN Ohio?" Blackwell said, "All the LEGAL votes will be counted."

The nasty-ass criminal Kerry scum repeated: "If ALL the votes are counted, Kerry WILL WIN."

Blackwell just grinned. The rest, as they say, is history.

Blackwell is among the few I'd donate to outside of my own state. Ohio needs him, imo.
