The Humanist Mission of Our Schools.
I think the most important factor leading us to a
secular society has been the educational factor. Our
schools may not teach Johnny to read properly, but the
fact that Johnny is in school until he is 16 tends to
lead toward the elimination of religious superstition.
The average child now acquires a high school education,
and this militates against Adam and Eve and all other
myths of alleged history.
Humanist writer Paul Blanshard.
Extending State Control.
Humanists know that the future of our country rests
with our children. Therefore, in order to control the
future of our country, they must control the minds of
our children. And the easiest way to control our
children is to control the schools.
Radical left-wing writers, including Alexander Cockburn
and James Ridgeway, incessantly rail against
parental "interference" in schools, because, as they
openly acknowledge, "The Left can't survive politically
without a public school system to spread leftist
attitudes."[3]
The New Curriculum.
The future of any nation lies with its youth. So
corrupt them; since religion teaches moral virtue,
erode the churches and divert the young from religion.
Make them interested only in themselves. Get them
involved in drugs, alcohol, and sex. Get them addicted
to privileges and rights.
Vladimir Lenin's "Rule for Revolution" #1.
"Reading, writing and arithmetic" no longer figure
prominently in today's exotic public school curricula.
Children who attend public school will be compelled to
learn the following;
that homosexuality is a perfectly acceptable
alternative lifestyle;
.....SNIP......

All the more reason to protect your kids as much as possible.
"Notice the person (smart-alecky) who was game playing with
us claimed to be a teacher."
You don't remember the conversation where the assertion was made in 225 and repeated by you in 246? Wasn't that long ago was it?
But nowhere have I made the statement that Smartaleck claimed to be a teacher.
"moog answered the question Smartaleck apparently refuses to answer."
#74 Scripter writes "Within the context of schools: At what age should kids *****confront****** a homosexual?"
#94 Scripter writes "it would appear from post 76 that you have an appropriate age range *****for the subject of homosexuality at school."******
Which of your questions are you talking about?
After receiving the answer to my original question I responded with my opinion and views in #321.
My opinion, more specifically, to your #74 question is that there is no age that anyone "should have to be confronted" confronted by homosexuals. Nobody should "have to be run over by a car either, but it happens.
And you're back to the games.
"All the more reason to protect your kids as much as possible."
Absolutely.
"and I didn't repeat it in post 246"
Who put the italicized remarks in 246 and put your name as the poster?
You're still playing games and misrepresenting what was said.
Their ****homeschooled**** children were kept out of sight and state-required checks did not apply.
Authorities say John and Linda Dollar used a cattle prod, a hammer, pliers, a vise and starvation to punish five of the eight children in their care. But why did no one notice?
School would be a logical place for someone to raise a concern. But the Dollars educated their children at home.

Would it be fair to characterize all homeschoolers like these people? I don't think so. No more than it is to condemn all teachers as being incompetent and having an "agenda" to corrupt kids, whatever.
Don't ping me any more, please.
I'm not at all interested in continuing this game with you. I'm with Oberon - don't ping me again.
I appreciate it.
Thanks for posting this.

Good point. It is not fair to condemn all soldiers for Abu Graihb (sp??) or whatever it was (I think anyone who condemned the armed forces for this was out of their mind, but that's another matter). It's the same with the Catholic Church for the priest scandals. There are many good priests. The one in my diocese here is one of the greatest men I have ever seen.
Too bad we can't edit posts. ;-)
That's ok. :)
I might disagree on some education things here and defend some positions since I am a teacher, BUT I would probably agree on a GREAT MANY things on other topics. Sometimes I gain a different perspective on things. But I'm not here to namecall or condemn people. Yes, sometimes I can get a bit sarcastic, but that's my sense of humor.
I love the humor that some people have here. I've been in stitches on some answers and it's fun to go back and forth with snappy (witty maybe) comebacks to each other on certain topics outside of education.
PLUS it gives me an opportunity to talk with someone of my own gender. 95% of the time it's either 6-year-olds or moms. It's no wonder my vocabulary is so simple (because of the first graders, not the moms):).
Education is an unjust intrusion on people?
Can you do any better than play word-substitution games?
