A great commercial that ran during the Super Bowl. I wasn't watching - my wife told me about it.
Watch it, and bring the box of tissue. You WILL be leaking...
I looked for a Super Bowl thread, but I couldn't find anything that seemed as if it would carry this.
TOPICS: Culture/Society; Front Page News; News/Current Events

they're insane...worse than that...they're disgusting.
At least one even thinks it was a conspiracy that the "Eagles" and "Patriots" were in the bowl....contributing to the "patriotism theme" of the super bowl. What a maroon.

Thank you OMIW...thank you for doing what you do. And yes, there are some -even on FR- who seem to thing that Reserves and Guard are sub-standard soldiers. That's BS. Don't let the turkeys get you down... and stop by the
Canteen sometime.

Great commercial (PC-ness an' all).
Quite a difference from the days of walking through the airport with my uniform on during the Vietnam War days.

I think they are trying to sell beer. I would be impressed if they ran the ad anonymously. I'm far more cynical than you are. On you, it's just cloying.

Did someone on this thread have a problem with women in the commercial honoring the troops?

If I do get called up, it's good to remember that many people support the troops and wish them well instead of speculating about the worst that can happen. Yes, we do. Thank you! It's human nature to want to live. Putting oneself in harm's way for a loved one is not a lighthearted gesture. The willingness to substitute your own potential harm in place of theirs is nothing less than heroic. And to willingly place oneself in harm's way for a country full of "strangers" to yourself...well, that's even more heroic, IMHO. And some of these strangers for whom you enlisted to protect are even obnoxious strangers the likes Ted Kennedy and his ilk--to equally ensure their rights to continue fouling the airwaves with their puke; that's even more amazing, to me. The media does our military no service, nor do the Rats. Turn a deaf ear to the naysayers and the na'er do wells. You are protecting your family and those who will always be thankful that from America comes men and women such as you. How can you not think of yourself as a hero? We do. And we thank you.

Over at DU they are pissed off. The DUmmies think it was a BUSH ad... don't even know the difference in Busch as in Anheiser
I leaked too, so did Mom. As my new favorite Superbowl commercial, it has bumped the 1984 MacIntosh Ad down to #2 tied with Mean Joe Greene's 1979 Coke commercial and just after that, The Budweiser Frogs. Gotta look at DU, normally, I go over just for laughs, I just sit and laugh at them although there are times as my grandfather used to say, "they need a good, swift kick in the 'butt.'" This is one of those times.

Half the soldiers leaving the plane were women. The vast majority of soldiers who have died in Iraq have been men. I thought that commercial reeked of political correctness.
I admit I caught that too, but I'm willing to give it a pass, every job in the Armed Forces is important and as long as everyone does their job and to the best of their ability as long as the requirements are met, that's OK with me. I'm willing to put the PC alert from active to passive on this one and say to Anheuser Busch, well done.

Things have changed from the days when the media could p*ss on the troops and get away with it. Lots of Americans understand that all of you are in harm's way, for the sake of the rest of us.
Thanks for your service, and take heart! :-)
