The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.
Little Ronnie Reagan is on with Joe Scarborough.
He just introduced the show by saying: "The president
has issued his SECOND state of the union address".
Gee, Ron. I would've sworn it seemed like at least FIVE!
You know absolutely nothing, do you Joe?
Do you just lie with impunity to cause trouble, or are you really this stupid?
How many Iraqis died in this fight for their own freedom? How many Iraqi soldiers and police officers have been killed in the line of duty? How many innocent men, women and children have been blown up by terrorist bombs??
Do you know???
I didn't think so.
Geezers vote in higher numbers than the young, and the young don't really vote much on retirement issues, yet. They vote on things like the draft, which slashed Bush's vote in that demographic. You can see it in the returns of ski towns and college towns, across the fruited plain, writ large, where Bush suffered his highest erosion as compared to 2000. And "well to do" geezers vote the most heavily of all, and most do not support Torie's just do it and zero out plan. Other geezers, or near geezers, or some working stiffs who have not saved a dime in their life, are just afraid of change about matters they do not, and will not, and cannot understand.
I wonder if he knows how many SotU speeches his own FATHER gave?? Sheesh!!
I tuned out with Sharpton making an appearance!
Me too! I am just glad I don't have to work tomorrow. I would be going nuts wanting to know what all the guys on the radio are saying about the speech and how stupid the DUM-o-cRATS are acting (as usual)!
OKAY...just got in....what'd I miss? Seriously....anyone know when it plays AGAIN?
Yes to both, apparently.
I'm most struck by how the pundits still underestimate the president. Every time they've said he can't do something....well you know the rest. They never learn.
I missed it too. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pelosi are doing their thing on C-SPAN as I type this.
I will miss them, as well.
What no photos of (I think... Doro Bush) the woman behind Laura wearing the FISHNET stockings? Good grief! I thought it was Clinton who let the hookers in the box.
Nonoon is not my child nor grandchild - rather a ridiculous notion to compare villify/forgive.
Now we are both entitled to our opinions. Mine is that Nonoon's spout-off gave aid and comfort to the demos who in turn give aid and comfort to this country's enemies.
I should have known by their voice differences, but I was so appalled by the Ohio comment that I muted the TV and turned away.
It was AL, not Charlie making the utterly STUPID comparison!
THE VOTE WAS FAIR IN OHIO, SO SHUT UP ALREADY YOU IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!
Apparently.
Well, first, I no longer believe they are rational. I've been saying they are "Insane" and I truly mean it. If not under the cover of "free speech" I think they would be committed.
If we start from that foundation I would have to say much of what they do is based on an instinctual non thinking level. The obstruction is guttural. Dig your feet in the sand and do not let up. They have closed their minds to the possibility they are in the wrong, or that the President may be in the right. they refuse to concede any ground to him out of pure obstinance.
IMO, they believe if they can hold the Republicans to a standstill they believe they'll gain strength in the public's eyes. They'll keep any further momentum from Republicans. They'll prevent a younger generation from growing individuality that leads to less desire to rely on them for their needs. It's all about maintaining this status of power. Even if only an illusion, if the illusion is strong enough they believe the seats will eventually follow.
They are gambling this will not backfire on them. In a new age of information medium and a driven president, I think they have chosen the wrong bet.
BWAAAAHAAAAAA! Kerry looked like he had been chewing on lemons! Ahhhh, the taste of envy!
< Its hard to believe he is related to his father.
wasn't he ever!
the new senate puppy got his manners sheet from his bosses
All good questions. Maybe Joe will answer them. He seems to have formulated an opinion based on such answers.
Let's wait for him to answer(zzzzzzz).
