STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05
Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout
The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

I have heard it said that GWB is a pretty good poker player. I don't think he minds one bit being misunderestimated, plays into his hands. Love that word he coined "misunderestimated." that's his secret weapon...

Wow...no anti-Bush bias on that website (/sarcasm).

Also the speechwriters learned to write the way he speaks. That's why there is such a change in the flow of the speeches.

Probably not tonight. But I just know there will be a very poignant time when he will show us that badge again. He has referred to that badge several times since that speech. I don't have any links handy but I know I've heard him and Laura mention it.

Ron Silver is on Mathews' show!
To: YaYa123
So as he told her "thanks for coming", he had to make a "now it's time for the grown-ups" comment. She laughed, but I guarantee she knew she (the only female), had just been dissed by a very envious man. Haha. I'll bet Matthews is getting back at Laura Ingraham for what she said on her radio program this am.
She had been told by a contact of hers that Matthews (Laura implied it was Chrissie rather than saying his name) was spotted in the Four Seasons salon last week getting his hair highlighted. He was sitting in the chair with that foil on his head.
And his hair does look different than the last time I saw him on tv.
Laura has also lately been running an audio clip of Chrissie saying how nice it would be to be 25 and running with the Bush twins crowd.

Wish I did (can see it in my mind's eye though, and it's a good sight).
Time to whomp up something to eat and chill the refreshments so I can hang until the end of the speech.

Save Bork for when a lieberal leaves the bench. John Paul Stevens is getting up there in years. So is Bork. He's only 7 years younger than Stevens. Too old to be appointed.

How about we name the landmark Iraqi election and future Democratic advances in that land: "The Purple Revolution"

Wooo Hooo! Ron Silver!
I wish we could get him to do the president's daily brief.

Kerry, Reid, Kennedy...they all are some kind of versions of Baghdad Bob. Part of me think it's funny but it's also frightening that they hold powerful positions in this country. What is even more scarier, there are over fifty million voters walking around, that cannot see through their BS. I thank god every day, that President Bush won the Presidency. In the meantime, the press still does not have a clue how irrelevant they have become.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Drink whenever he says the word Freedom. ;)
That will lay everyone out early!
Here's another good one that'll get ya plastered but quick: during the rebuttle speech, take a drink every time a lib says "quagmire" or "this president"

Not to worry.
The MSM and the Democrats are like Tooky-tooky birds, flying in ever decreasing circles at ever increasing speed. Soon... they'll disappear when they fly up their own butt.

How about we name the landmark Iraqi election and future Democratic advances in that land: "The Purple Revolution"Agree wholeheartedly...but make that a small "d" democratic advance.
