STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05
Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout
The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

Do you suppose the poll happy MSM forgot to do a poll on the most important event since the election?Perish the thought. Actually, I think I saw one in the last couple of days that has him up over 50 percent again.

You know...when you subscribe to a real HIGH volume ping list, and you get four or five pings a day. When you log on to FR after a couple of days to check to see if you have any personal replies or pings, then you have to wade through buckets of old pings (that are usually old news by the time I get to them). I've had to remove myself from some high-volume PING lists before.
Capiche?

I agree with you. For politicians to use it just cheapens the symbolism.

you get four or five pings a day. Four of five a day, huh?
I couldn't begin to tell you how many I get AN HOUR.

Just beware on threads dealing with major events like this. The DUers are known to infiltrate during these times. We just need the SuperSized version of FReep Brand Troll-B-Gon (click for the pic)

Rassmussen has a poll out today. The President was at 53% approval.
Wednesday February 02, 2005--Fifty-three percent (53%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. Forty-seven percent (47%) disapprove. These numbers are the President's best of 2005 and reflect a four-point bounce from the weekend elections in Iraq. I was floored to learn from John Kerry that Social Security is solventKerry, Reid, Kennedy...they all are some kind of versions of Baghdad Bob. Part of me think it's funny but it's also frightening that they hold powerful positions in this country.

The worst time I ever had on FR was the night of the first debate. The thread was inundated with trolls, newbies and naysayers. It was the most depressing thread I have ever read. That was definately a miserable experience--adding to what you said, the thread was also incredibly slow for dial-up users (something that has been fixed since) and W wasn't at his best--he'd been on his feet all day consoling hurricane victims, IIRC. That was the darkest night of the campaign for me.

Is there a paleo-con rule we can set up before the speech starts? No more than one mention of borders, deficits or outsourcing...something along those lines?
