Hey, I stopped to compose a response and lost the original thread. Was it Zotted? If someone will provide the thread link, I will post this correctly to it.
Let me speak as a non-black man. As such, you are welcome that the Republicans were the ones to lead the fight against slavery, and who overcame the Democrat South who wanted to keep it. You are also welcome that the Republicans were the ones to vote through the Civil Rights Act that the Democrat South didnt want. You are also welcome that Kwanzaa, a holiday that didnt exist until recently, has been crammed down the throats of my children, who are mostly forbidden from even mentioning in school that the birth of Jesus Christ is the real reason we celebrate Christmas.
The designation of this month more than makes up for the prevailing ignorance in our society towards black culture, the constant stereotyping, racial profiling (from the police and your average everyday citizen). It completely makes up for the constant call by "White" America to let bygones be bygones--to stop using "slavery" as an excuse despite the obvious fracturing and damage done to the Black family structure, the result of is still evident today.
The worst damage done to the black family structure has been done by forty years of giveaways that have done what the Klan couldnt do destroy the black family unit. By giving money in place of giving a chance to work, we deprived honest black men of the chance to prove themselves as bread winner, to shine in the esteem of their families. By making it easy to walk away from marriage, we made it OK for black men to abandon their families. By creating a second set of lowered expectations, we have made it easy for underperformers to slide out of high school barely able to read. I will apologise for slavery while it lasted, it was horrible, and wrong. And the fact that you are probably writing this from INSIDE the most prosperous and free nation in the world, rather than in a pest-hole country in Africa where you would be killing your fellow citizens or starving to death is the only good thing that came of it.
Thanks for belittling the historical contributions of our ancestors.
Since to some, everything is about race, thank you for the contributions of the black man, they are many and laudable. However, sadly, just as the Arab history is one of greatness in the past, I have to ask what has been done lately. In the past, the black man gave us Jazz. Today, we have Rap (sorry, Hip Hop) which teaches us that women are whores, and that killing people is cool. This music is applauded and consumed by American Youth of all races, and at least in the black community, I see very few people saying it is wrong and should be stopped. This averages out to about zero in music. I know that a great many scientific achievements have been made, and I see smart black kids at my daughters magnet school, where every student wants to learn and achive. And yet, I see black youth in my town who seem to think that being smart is too white. On a national scale, I would vote for Condi Rice for president, Colin Powell is a brilliant military mind, and Clarence Tomas is a champion of the Law. And all these people are too white for many black activists, because they are conservative, and have made themselves rich. Since this kind of achievement is viewed as bad, this badly skews my evaluation of scientific achievements made in the past as well.
This country was built on the backs of Black people. American history is just as much ours as it is yours.
By democracy, it is about 18% yours, if you are an Afro-American. If you are an American, it is 100% yours.
Thank you for always assuming the worst about a Black person the minute you lay eyes on him or her. Thanks for clutching your kids and pulling them a little closer when I stand next to them on the metro rail.
If I were a purple man, and blue men had been known to commit violent crimes, I would be careful with my kids on public transport. Especially if the blue man next to me clearly had an agenda and a misdirected anger towards purple men.
Thank you President Bush and on down the line for doing all you can to promote equality and justice in this country. The legal and justice systems reflect that. The young black male has become an endangered species in this country. Thank you for sending Tyrone to jail for years for stealing a pack of gummy bears yet Kenneth Lay, who robbed people of their future and security is free to do as he pleases.
Show me the docket number for Tyrones case, and the newspaper clippings that validate the famous gummy bear thief case. Kenneth lay is not free, and people are going to jail over Enron. You are making gross generalities over non-existent cases, and trying to pass them off as arguments. If there is a disproportionate number of young black men in jail, those young black men should stop doing the things that get people thrown into jail. Abe Lincoln never got a dime of Federal money for his education, and yet became President of the country, after failing at five different careers. There are dozens of black kids at our magnet school, kids who got in because their grades reflected achievement, not because they were black. Martin Luthor King preached an America in which a man was judged by his character, and not by his skin color. I want with all my heart to see this America as well. A man should be judged on how well he care for his family, on his hard-working nature, and on his ability to take responsibility for his actions. I pray that, despite Jessie Jackson and Al Sharptons race-baiting, we will one day see that America.
A special thanks goes out to those affluent couples and families looking to adopt, but stepping over black babies in their own country in order to hope a jet and fly half way around the world to grab the "in style" babies.
I know white people who have adopted black kids. How many have you adopted, sir?
I understand it is fashionable to adopt kids that are Asian or Russian kids named Sasha or Nikita. Try to remember how you screwed Tyrone..you screwed Malcolm, you screwed all the Black and Latino kids who have spent their whole lives in the foster care system..but hey you got your nice conversation piece.
And if Daddy stayed with the woman he had sex with, or didnt get jailed for beating her, or stayed in school and got a free education so he could provide for his kids before he had them, they wouldnt be in the foster care system, would they, sir?
I wonder how many of you think that things in this country are equal? If I have to run 60 miles to get to the same place that you are but it only takes you 10 miles to get there..how is that equal? If you haven't walked in a black mans shoes, then don't talk to me about what is equal and what isn't.
If my child busts her tail studying three hours a night and cant get a scholarship with a A average because someone else with a B average and a quota got it, how are things in this country equal?
I work in a plant that is 20% black, 30% asian and 50% white. I can show you the people of all colors I respect the ones who love their families and are working hard to provide for them. Those people rise to the top, based on their work, just like Condi. You know, the Democrats (you are, arent you?) had hardly anyone of any color in their staff that was supposed to look like America. Bush puts a latino and two brilliant black people in his Cabinet, and soon will put a fine black man as the first Supreme Court Justice, but does he get any credit? Nope, of course not. Theyre too white. And as for that, saying you know anything about me based on the color of my skin is just as racist as a Klansman a hundred years ago.
You sir, have to run ten miles for every ten miles I run. But if you spend the entire race sitting by the side of the road complaining that the race is too hard, or too long, then no wonder you lose. For that matter, when is the NFL going to do something about my application? Sure, I am a fat, balding white guy of around 45, but that shouldnt have anything to do with Football, should it? I mean really, it is really unfair that all those strong young black men get all the money! I should be given one of the million dollar contracts, even though I am not really suited by my abilities, talents or body form to carry out the requirements of the job. I mean, if we truly want to be fair to everybody.
George W. got booed at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ceremony where the president laid a wreath at Dr. King's grave to honor his birthday. I'm surprised that Dr. King didn't jump out of his grave and punch him. I guess Dr. King really is a man of peace. Why did Bush even bother? The war in Iraq, his opposition to affirmative action, failure of his promise to "leave no child behind," cutting back health care programs for the poor, denying certain groups their civil liberties, all go against everything Dr. King stood for.
Bushs inclusiveness to all people is detailed above. The war in Iraq freed twenty-five million Arab people from torture and death, closed the rape rooms, stopped the plastic shredders that ate people feet first, and opened up the mass graves so we could understand how horrible they were. But I suspect it is more importantly all about Bush.
What if George Bush had been born two centuries earlier, and instead of going into Iraq had gone into the South? What if he and the Union army had used firepower to stop the slave owners? Lynching and rapes stop. Evil men are thrown from power and killed, or handed over to the now-freed former-slaves for trials? Blacks are given the vote, to determine their own future? Oh, there might be some explosions from former slavemasters, now on the run and in hiding, trying to bring back the old days, and there might be some whiney Democrats saying that the Liberation of the South was a bad thing, and had cost too many good Union lives, and that Grant and Bush should cut and run and get out of the South, where we have no real business being.
As someone who certainly would speak at great length about how horribly his own ancestors were treated at the hands of others, it is ironic that you apparently think that because these horrors happened to arabs, people of another race, it doesnt concern you. You sir, are a racist. I doubt Dr. King would approve of that.
Why would you bother posting to a thread which has been pulled?
A thread got pulled, so you repost its contents?
Reminds me of the guy speculating on the kidnapping of the doll.
Do a thread search. Secondly, if it was pulled, don't cha think it was for a reason?
Because I'm not sure it was pulled, just that by the limits of the "search the article title" search that I know how to do, I can't find it after I wrote my response, which I think is an inciteful treatment of what the Angry Fellow had to say. Because I think it brings to the table a powerful arguement that balances the nilhilistic complaints of the original poster. And because I enjoyed doing it, just the way that we all, here on the bulletin-board of the Internet, enjoy doing it.

Oh nooooooooooooo!
Although you made some great points, I find it is an excercise in futility debating a guy like this. He obviously doesn't get it and to some degree has been mentally conditioned to think this way(ie brainwashed). You basically wasted your time.
I'm confused, what part of that was your would-be reply to the Angry Black Fellow? Surely it wasn't the whole thing?

The Viking Kitties like to play a bit with their food, too!
I THINK YOU WROTE A BRILLIANT PIECE
YOU SHOULD SEND IT TO THE NEWSPAPERS
Well said, none the less.
No matter the troll is gone.
I liked the response.
Good post Sir.
I liked it, tell the "why did you post to a pulled thread crowd" to pack sand
It is frustrating composing a long rebuttal just to find the thread deleted. Maybe we need to start a thread just for posting such things. Few of the posts would make since to others since they're be no context. How about if it's called the "witty posts to deleted threads" thread. Chances are though that when I press post on this, I'll find your thread deleted.
Your wisdom is wasted on the wise......
