Thanks for this 'on the ground' account from Fallujah!

Good Bless our Marines & the Iraqi people who bravely walked through the Valley of the shadow of death to vote!

A nephew called his fiancee last night and reported that the elections had been very good, no problems. He thinks that since the people have shown defiance to the threats that they will co-operate even more in turning in the thugs.
The people were very enthusiastic and socializing with their peers at the polling places was a positive sign.

Forget Kerry's opinion. He was never credible in his understanding of winning the peace, and his spouting yesterday reminds me of how thankful we are to have a President with the kahunas to actually do what he says he is going to do!

And GWB had the vision that this was possible. God Bless our Armed Forces that made that day happen. It is fitting that they were on hand to witness such a remarkable day. Awesome.

As I understand it, relatively few people have yet returned to Fallujah. That a free vote happened there at all, without significant interference from the bad guys, is remarkable and noteworthy.

I am grateful and aware that I am watching history in the making. After many decades of *nothing* happening to change the basic savagery that has ruled the whole of the middle east... we are watching in real time as a new and very real history begins there.

This will be everything and more, that it was to watch the beginnings of the fall of communism in Poland so many years ago.

Once the citizenry starts turning in the terrorists Iraq will be on her way to stability. The terrorists were handed a resounding defeat yesterday. The successful vote there yesterday might have cut ten years off the War on Terror. There is no way to know how many lives will be spared because of that one election.:-)

WOW, 8 thousand! That is far more than I expected. I hope they find a way to get the purple ink off, because the muj will kill them.

"Of course not everyone voted in Fallujah today but just under eight thousand people did."

Out of a population of 1/4mil. Scant number.

Looks like the Marines & Soldiers have a lot more killing to do.

I am still flying from Sunday when the reports on the wonderful election came in. This is a great post and I will email to my non-Freepr friends. It is amazing how the Mairnes can fight so hard one day and then switch gears and reach out to the Iraqis. Their interactions with locals will alter the Mideast as much as their fighting. They really have a right to be Proud.

It hurts me that these stories NEVER make the MSM. What trash--wasteful trash-- the MSM is. But I must say, the biggest irony of the year so far has been that Russert had Kerry on Sunday and the Iraqi Elections shocked everyone.
