Historians are inevitably going to compare the presidencies of George W. Bush and William Jefferson Blythe Clinton.
They do have a few things in common. Each won two terms, each was involved in a military campaign, each was married and had a family, each was a consummate politician, and each was loved by his fans and loathed by his political enemies.
Perhaps they have a few similarities, but it is the differences that are most important. One is a man who respects the office. The other is a man who defiled the office.
President Bush is a man with vision and purpose. He does not put up his finger in the wind and make a decision because it will be popular and enhance his political power. To say Clinton was disingenuous, cunning, and Machiavellian is to understate his attributes. There have never been politicians like Bill and his wife.
Yesterday's historic election in Iraq, an election that would have never happened if the other side were in charge, is a part of a legacy being carved out by President Bush that may well have historians calling him one of the greatest presidents.
We all saw the pictures. The fingers were either blue or purple, depending on the clarity of the photos and your own interpretation. Those who voted didn't get an I VOTED sticker as we do when we vote. No, they were branded for all to see with some ink that would stay there for awhile and prevent them from voting multiple times. The Iraqis have paid attention to what the DemocRATS did in Washington, Wisconsin, and probably all of the other states. There would be no cheating in this election.
That stained finger also had another consequence. It made all who voted subject to being beheaded by the bad guys. In this part of the world, the bad guys are serious about voter suppression. Unlike here, it is real and it is deadly.
As we celebrate the historic day let us remember the stark contrast of two presidencies. One will have the legacy of a stained finger that represents the greatest gift that can be given to the oppressed Iraqi people -- their freedom.
The other stain was on a blue dress. It represents a failed eight years. Anyone good CEO and any number of Democrats or Republicans could have presided over the economy in the 1990s. It just so happens that a man without character or conscience, a man who is truly a sociopath, was at the helm during an economic expansion. Terrorism grew around the world while he spent his time thinking about satisfying his sexual needs, intimidating witnesses, commiting perjury, suborning perjury, and trying to deny a lowly state employee her day in court.
President Bush is changing the world for the better. Freedom will not be stopped because man yearns to live free. Bill Clinton just watched it go by while he spent his time taking down his pants in Oval Office.
Let us continue to pray for the safety of those brave warriors who are in danger and for the souls of those whose lives were cut short because they were brave enough to want to make a difference in the world. You can know for certain that, when this president sheds tears for those we have lost and for the families left behind, those tears are not for a photo-op. They are real.
The legacy of the stained finger or the legacy of the stained dress. Which man do you admire?
:)
. . .and a very good piece. Excellent!
BTW, I always look at the message, not the minutia of itsy bitsy errors.
Great thougt. We can never repay the debt. We must always be grateful.
True, but you first look at who the messenger is.
With Rather and those other MSM lackeys, you doubt everything, perfect grammar or not.
nice!
My buddy and I now have 6 radios parked wherever we may be around the plant so we don't need to carry any around.
A tale of two stains. Great post.
"That's gonna leave a mark" doesn't even begin to describe it. Man, you have cut to the bone! I'm lovin it!
Yeah, i guess it all boils down to integrity and fortitude. Doing what is right generally leads to great results.
Doug McIntyre starts at 5, I think. He is a good guy. During the Clinton years, I called him all the time with limericks and he had me in studio on his show. I don't know anything about the guy before that.
I think I like your title.
They can fight the terrorists now because they know they are not alone.
That is a great analogy. Terrorism suffered a very big blow yesterday. Thank you, President Bush.
A stained dress vs. 10 million stained fingers.
Well, there could have been more stained dresses we didn't know about. :)
BRAVO!
GODSPEED!
If I remember correctly even the booming economy of many large businesses weren't real. CEO's inflated their bottomlines and stole from their employees.
Only the stain on the blue dress was real in Clinton's eight years.
For several years they sang his song
he was a hero to their cause
In denial many lived
he placed himself up above the laws
He knew all of the right things to say
down through
hell and then back believers would go
In eight long years he's done to us
more damage than you know
For his neglect we would finally pay the price
the count's three thousand dead
We know just where to place the blame
it is on Bill Clinton's head
When the Cole was hit and brave men died
there is no doubt that he hadn't cried
He looked at his polls and sighed
Now this is the end
this is the end
of his legacy
At OKC he saw his chance
he needed to divide us all
He would create the vast right wing
and his mind-numbed fools would pick up the ball
So we'd fight among ourselves
and the
grand scheme had worked, he got his way
With our attention diverted he
would gut the CIA
For his neglect we would pay the price
the count's three thousand dead
We know just where to place the blame
it is on Bill Clinton's head
When the Cole was hit and brave men died
there is no doubt that he hadn't cried
He looked at his polls and sighed
Now this is the end
this is the end
of his legacy
We endured a psychopath
who saw himself as the Rockstar Prez
We had sent the warnings out
watch what this man does, not what he says
For neglect we paid the price
when those great buildings fell with many dead
And we know just where to place the blame
it's on Bill Clinton's head
When the Cole was hit and brave men died
there is no doubt that he hadn't cried
He looked at his polls and sighed
Now this is the end
this is the end
of his legacy
The cigar was real. Blackhawk down was real. The Cole was real.
Yeah, but Bush actually got a majority of the electorate to vote for him.
Indeed he did. With the nitwit Perot in the race, Clinton sneaked in the first term with about 43%. When people were still asleep and only cared about the supposed good economy, the terrorist monster was growing.
