One in three U.S. high school students say the press ought to be more restricted, and even more say the government should approve newspaper stories before readers see them, according to a survey being released todaySuch good, little Socialists. They've learned well.

I wonder how the demise of the Soviet Union is taught in schools nowadays; I'm guessing with deep sadness.

So they want the government to approve articles before they are published? That would take a lot of work. Anyway, I doubt they would want this to happen with the current administration in power. You know, this stuff works both ways. Scary these kids may be the future.

This poor kids can't be bothered with thinking for themselves. At least, they have some clue what they aren't good at.

I would have to say if the media didn't go too far on EVERY story(see: geraldo writing in the sand; scott peterson trial; dan rather on the beach as the marines land) then these kids wouldn't think this, but because they are liberal they have no self-restraint and therefore need a punishment... these kids are smarter than you think, although this "poll" probably mislead the questioning, they are saying things that the MSM should pay attention to
I.E., "if we don't change now, the government will change for us."

You remember how the national press publicised FDR's need for a wheelchair during WWII? What, no? This was because the press knew that Truth at Any Cost was not good for America.
If a high percentage of today's schoolkids think that the media should be knocked down a notch (BAM!) it is a sad thing. And if the media wasn't being run by goggle-eyed Leftests with an agenda, maybe the public would have a higher opinion of said media.
It is very akin to what Glenn Beck says about the 60% of moderate Islamists in America today. He notes that they are playing a very risky game by NOT coming out forcefully against terror, and just sitting quietly moaning about how horribly America is treating them. It is risky, in Glenn's opinion, because if another major attack comes on America, say smallpox or a nuke strike, normal, even-tempered people like myself, who normally would stand up for them, are going to vote to put them in camps.
If anybody but Fox News had spent the last forty years actually trying to deliver a balanced report of the news of the day, and not just trying to advance Democrat policies, perhaps the Youth of Today wouldn't see the need to clamp down on the Freedom of Speech. If it happens, everybody loses, and Dan, Peter, and their ilk are to blame.

You're all right. Did none of these kids have any early American history classes or hear of the "Core Democratic Values"? (these are taught from first grade up in Northville, and many other Michigan Public School districts.) This is too serious to ignore.

Although a large majority of students surveyed say musicians and others should be allowed to express "unpopular opinions," I believe they do have the abilty to express their opinions, just as I have a right to express my opinion about their opinion.

The media needs to be restricted to the TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH.
Amazing concept.
