I'm sad to say that much of the anti-American feeling that is around at the moment is down to the fact that Americans can't seem to see any faults in their system and/or military.
We in Europe remember how America has been involved in destabalising and usurping a democratically elected government - Chile on Sept 11 1972 - used Agent Orange in Viet Nam, demonised left wing people in the entertainment industry during McCarthyism, supporting death squad governments in Central/South America, just to mention a few things, and, most recently, your FBI came here and managed to get the servers for several Indymedia sites taken down (thank goodness they are up and running again) Oprah Winfrey was landed with a court case just for saying that she wouldn't eat a hamburger again and we are regularly reading about how people in the States are being arrested just for criticising the government - a few months back it was a couple wearing T shirts claiming Love America, Hate Bush.
Here in Britain the vast majority of the population was against the war and we are sick of our prime minister being Bush's lapdog. We have a very different culture and we don't want your very powerful big business culture pushed on us.
Have you read how an American seed company (Monsanto?) has produced 'addict' seed that won't grow and develop unless the company's fertilizers are used and how Iraqi farmers won't be allowed to save (patented) seed that they've been given by US seed companies who have reaped the benefit of the war?
On our most respected news programme, Panorama, the other night we heard how new evidence has come to light that US and British military are responsible for killing thousands of civilians in Iraq, NOT the insurgents as had previously been thought responsible.
Here in Britain and the rest of Europe we get the impression that your media is narrow and biased so you just aren't getting the facts. Perhaps that's something you should be looking at instead of spending time worrying about whether people are anti-American or not..... something that we, in a democracy have the right to be if we wish.
I have family in the US so I know that not everyone is a Republican born again Christian. Both our countries should hang their heads in shame at how we've sold weapons of every sort to countries that we later wage war on - we backed Saddam Hussein even though he was gassing the Kurds, because he was our friend against Iran. Hypocrisy, as usual, rules OK. Think on. Sue
Thanks...good points...

Excellent! Thanks....

So I know they have there loons but so DU we :-)
I had no idea how many of the Iraqis actually would have voted and at how many are so happy about being free. Even reading in here and listening to FOX gave me no idea how many people there ARE REALLY happy about us being there...
NICE PICS.
The Iraqi "Death Squads" Myth: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1319025/posts
Who can ever forget the american made missles that attacked the British warships in the Faulklands . . . ????
Or the British and American hardware we fought against in Kosovo . . .
She does have a point though, because in Vietnam the american military industrial complex was supplying the vc through loas and cambodia. . .
Does anyone have any idea what she is talking about with this ADDICT seed??
From your profile page, KATY.
What's a "Luker", by the way?
Is that similiar to a "Loogie"?
But I see you managed to get in all of what you left-wing dimwits from DUmmy land consider to be the key to getting on FR:
Voted for..., etc, support SS reform, tax reform, Homeland Security, etc.
Why, you even managed to get something in about immigration.
When you try again (and you shall, since I suspect a ZOT is forthcoming), be sure to get something in about Kerry, Kennedy and you simply MUST label Specter a RINO.
Begone, troll.
Sue is a bonehead.
You're a loonie tune....
Oh bugger off
Really? I wasn't there. What did the AMERICAN MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX give them?
I agree OldSmaj. She probably wrote that crap herself.
Why on earth would you do that?
Go back to your home at DU.
I have heard about a seed that Monsanto has produced that you can only get one crop from. You can't use seed from that crop for a new crop. You have to go back to Monsanto for new seed. It's like "right-protected". I really don't see the problem though. Heck, if you don't like Monsanto's seed go somewhere else.
I did it because the comments/email were in a newsgroup that gets emailed to me every day and had nothing to do with politics and it pi$$ed me off. So I thought I'd come into this 'thoughtful' place and get some help in part of my reply to her. FOr the most part, people in here have been nice...but I have two 'thoughtful' words for you.
