The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON -- Mosques across the U.S. continue to carry books and pamphlets describing non-Muslims as "infidels" and promoting intolerance against Western society, according to a forthcoming study by Freedom House, a U.S. human-rights group.

Despite vows from American Islamic leaders after Sept. 11, 2001, to proselytize peacefully, New York based Freedom House researchers found 57 documents with incendiary material in more than a dozen mosques and Islamic centers in six states and Washington, D.C., visited over the past year.

I'm very, very sorry to hear about the deaths in your family.

OPINION-A BIT OF SPECULATION: I don't know about New York, but in most medium to large departments; gas masks are (or should be) part of your standard equipment. Having them with you (either in the squad car and/or in your locker) is not uncommon. Being told to bring the gas masks to and from work does indeed strikes me as being uncommon. Again, this is just my opinion.

Well maybe I should expand my opinion, come to thing about it.
If one is on-call and (and especially after 9-11), then having your
gas mask with you seems very appropriate because it's part of your equipment. End of opinion before dinner.

I would imagine the Zarqawi information has something to do with the notice. Today's release to the public about the Grand Central Station plans found after the Madrid bombing might also have them taking extra precautions, especially with the anniversary of that attack coming up next week.

Yep, well the news updates seem to reflect the opinion that maybe/maybe not it was Grand Central Station.

My PERSONAL OPINION is that NY seems to continue to be a potential target. I could be wrong and I hope I'm wrong. Being prepared is a good thing, no matter where one lives; no matter what alert level we are on.

Yep...I wonder how long a Christian or Jewish "Awareness Week" would last at one of these universities. The ACLU, CAIR, etc. would be knocking on their doors with some type of lawsuit.

Regarding thermal imaging camera and the other stolen items...alone these thefts in the past two days seem innocuous...but together in different parts of the country it seems very strange. It is not like they could re-sell this item. When I first read the title I thought that maybe metal parts of the fire-engine had been taken for the theives to sell as scrap...I was glad I read further. Also the last sentence the dopey guy being interviewed states that the fire trucks are rarely ever locked....wow thanks for that info.

Condolences on your losses. The emotional trauma of losing a family member is magnified by all the unfinished business items that drag on for months afterward.

Regarding gas masks...not all gases are equal. Some will get through a mask (CN) and make you puke. CS is pretty amenable to a gas mask. Sarin and VX go right through your skin. Cyanide requires the right stuff in the canister or is goes right through. Frankly, I don't think the masks and training offered to the average cop are going to be adequate. Especially not if a mix of gases is selected. The most valuable data point is the recognition that some kind of chemical attack is imminently expected.

Indie, I just finished about 15 searches, specific and general and can't find any information at all to verify poster no. 1's content as posted on the thread regarding horses. It could be that it isn't on any of the search engines, yet. I also checked TV/RADIO/ONLINE NEWS sites and still couldn't find anthing. FYI.

OPINION: I suggest anyone who is concerned with their horse's health and/or a potential horse health problem should contact their local vet for assistance and information.

Christians and Jews don't matter to these liberal, communist and anti-American professors. They get their satisfaction in making conversions to whatever cause they support while they get paid a good stipend for doing it.
