Hi Mossad.

I'm very, very sorry to hear about the deaths in your family.

OPINION-A BIT OF SPECULATION: I don't know about New York, but in most medium to large departments; gas masks are (or should be) part of your standard equipment. Having them with you (either in the squad car and/or in your locker) is not uncommon. Being told to bring the gas masks to and from work does indeed strikes me as being uncommon. Again, this is just my opinion.

Well maybe I should expand my opinion, come to thing about it.
If one is on-call and (and especially after 9-11), then having your
gas mask with you seems very appropriate because it's part of your equipment. End of opinion before dinner.

I would imagine the Zarqawi information has something to do with the notice. Today's release to the public about the Grand Central Station plans found after the Madrid bombing might also have them taking extra precautions, especially with the anniversary of that attack coming up next week.
