SAN ANTONIO -- Valley authorities are on alert tonight after the FBI San Antonio office receives "credible information" of a threat to kidnap agents and kill them.
The Gulf Cartel is believed to have massed armed men, with visas and passports, along the border to come into the United States and kidnap two FBI agents.

Can't the Feds do anything about the Mexican cartels and Russian mafia (mafiya) that seem to do virtually anything at will? It almost seems as if the Feds are terrified of the criminals. I read a paper from a Californian police department that made the Mafiya seem unstoppable.
They may be ruthless criminals, but they are still criminals and thus should be stopped.

Really obnoxious drug lords in Mexico, the Central Ameria countries, and South America. They're not nice, they believe in torture of the kind you wouldn't wish on even Osama.

The Gulf Cartel is one of the largest crime families based in Mexico. It is one of several really potent groups that have wide sway in the region (including the lower part of the US). In Mexico they have a good part of the police force in their patroll, as well as the jail wardens (to the extent that even when several of the ruling elite were imprisonned they continued running the daily operations without pause).
They are just as ruthless as the Russian groups.

If this keeps up, we're gonna have a new Elliot Ness rising up from the ranks... and you know what that means. Yup, yet another fbi series on tv. The horror.

Ok. So, like ripping off a couple of agents is going to shut the entire program right. Ok, I understand now. Their thinking is a bit off I would think myself.

So we go all Pablo Escobar on them. Dead men make no profits, unless they can sell their votes in King County, Washington.

You should see some of the stuff those dudes do to cops. I'm assuming they would be trying to frighten individual officers to 'not try too hard.'

Well, it would sure shut MY PROGRAM down, since my son is one of the FBI agents. All politics are personal, ya know.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that there was a "cartel" in Mexico. It certainly isn't surprising that corruption flourishes in Mexico.

There's a lot going on in the border towns that we know nothing about.
I work down there. I hear the rumors.
