A bureaucratic blunder has left Wales off a map of Europe on the cover of a prestigious EU reference book. The Eurostat Statistical Compendium has all the facts and figures on Europe.
All EU member states, and the rest of Britain, are accurately represented on the cover - but Wales has disappeared and been replaced by the Irish Sea.
Tory leader Michael Howard said: "I was born and grew up in south Wales ... I know I've had my differences with Brussels, but I really do think that is going too far."

Say that fast 3 times.
I visited Cardiff and Caefilly (I'm sure I'm misspelling that last city). Very beautiful, great people. I ate at a cool old pub on top of a mountain between the two cities, and walked through one of the old castles there. I'd love to visit again.
I thought leftists loved whales?
Thanks. I feel much better now.
Really, You are better off if they don't know where You are.
Arrrgh, what sort of fresh hell is this? To leave Wales off the map is to leave the jewel of the Isle off the Crown - it is to make the crown merely a fool's cap.
Arise, daughters of the Celts!
Will the EU require equal representation for vowels?
That was cool. How did you do that?
King Henry V
Act 4. Scene VII
(snip)
KING HENRY V
Then call we this the field of Agincourt,
Fought on the day of Crispin Crispianus.
FLUELLEN
Your grandfather of famous memory, an't please your
majesty, and your great-uncle Edward the Plack
Prince of Wales, as I have read in the chronicles,
fought a most prave pattle here in France.
KING HENRY V
They did, Fluellen.
FLUELLEN
Your majesty says very true: if your majesties is
remembered of it, the Welshmen did good service in a
garden where leeks did grow, wearing leeks in their
Monmouth caps; which, your majesty know, to this
hour is an honourable badge of the service; and I do
believe your majesty takes no scorn to wear the leek
upon Saint Tavy's day.
KING HENRY V
I wear it for a memorable honour;
For I am Welsh, you know, good countryman.
FLUELLEN
All the water in Wye cannot wash your majesty's
Welsh plood out of your pody, I can tell you that:
God pless it and preserve it, as long as it pleases
his grace, and his majesty too!
KING HENRY V
Thanks, good my countryman.
FLUELLEN
By Jeshu, I am your majesty's countryman, I care not
who know it; I will confess it to all the 'orld: I
need not to be ashamed of your majesty, praised be
God, so long as your majesty is an honest man.

Dude, man, Wales needs spelling lessons.
Seriously.
Actually, this is all a cunning plan to get try and get a Welsh flag for my profile page. Not only did the EU miss us out on their book cover, Wales has never been represented on the Union Flag that Im currently, reluctantly, displaying. England, Scotland and Ulster yes, but Wales, no.
And "The Alarm" as well.
The case for a Welsh flag on FR, (paraphrased from the Idaho Welsh Society - any factual errors, I blame my sources):
Twenty percent of the Pilgrim Fathers were Welsh, as was the Captain of the Mayflower.
Thomas Jeffersons family came from Wales.
Seventeen of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence were of Welsh descent.
As was the man who financed the War of Independence, Robert Morris.
The English still see us as trouble makers (heheh).
(That whole War of Independence is suddenly making a lot more sense to me. Way to go, boyos!)
Also (and Ive only just discovered this) there is an inscription halfway up the steps of the Washington Monument, courtesy of Jefferson (who spoke the language fluently, apparently), which reads "FY IAITH, FY NGWLAD, FY NGHENEDL CYMRU - CYMRU AM BYTH!" ("My language, my land, my nation of Wales - Wales for ever!").
Now if all this doesn't warrant a Welsh Dragon for my profile page I don't know what does. What if I throw in John Marshall, Frank Lloyd Wright, Jefferson Davies, Harriet Beecher Stowe, The Village from The Prisoner, Terry Jones from "Monty Python," the original Arthurian legends, Richard Burton, Anthony Hopkins, and offer to take Hillary Clinton and The Osmonds back?
On the bright side... If they don't see you they can't tax you.
