TRENTON, N.J. -- Former Gov. Thomas H. Kean handily topped the field as "best governor of New Jersey" in a statewide poll of registered voters, which also turned up a suprising response for worst governor _ a tie between James E. McGreevey and his predecessor, Christine Todd Whitman.
McGreevey, chased from office last year by a gay sex scandal, and Whitman, who resigned to join the first term Cabinet of President Bush, both were named worst by 26 percent of those responding to Fairleigh Dickinson University's PublicMind Poll.

Isn't Christie Todd just McGreevey in drag? No wonder he's so confused.

C'mon. I'm to Whitmann fan, but McGreevy resigning is disgrace for a gay affair while married and dole-ing out $150k payola jobs to gay lovers = not only last place, but a new institution even...called the N.J. Hall-of-Shame.
Charter members are McGreevy and the Torch.

How could Christie be rated so poorly? After all, she's a moderate and that's what everyone is looking for, isn't it?
If you stand in the middle of the road, you get run over.

May I remind you of Whitman's NJ supreme court decision to allow Torch to leave and Lause to replace him.
May I remind you of the motor vehicle inspection fiasco during her tenure.
May I remind you of the EZ Pass fiasco.....

Hey! have to take that minor stuff in context. Jeysey is the absolute most corrupt state in the Union. NJ office seats only attract thieves in suits, out to get theirs. (I fled for my life to NC after 40 years in NJ)

Well .. after Kean's performance as head of the 911 commission - and his coddling of Gorelick - I would never vote him the best of anything.

I wonder if Kean didn't pay for this poll as a way of paving the way for his son.
I wouldn't vote for any Kean.....

Not sure if you meant "coddling" or "cuddling" - some of the grab ass encounters made me wonder what was going on behind the scenes.
To: Ben Hecks
Well .. I was trying to be discreet - but I agree their lovey dovey actions toward each other was so blatant I wasn't just supicious - I was pretty sure there was hanky panky going on behind the scenes.
I also knew this was why she would not be removed. These dems/libs will do ANYTHING to keep from being held accountable for their actions. But .. I thought he was married .. and I wondered what his wife thought on their on-screen romance.

Kean who started the state on big budgets with his NEW mandatory minimum salary for new teachers at $18,500 (back then that was a lot of money for a 22 yr. old), that was the death knell for low taxes, every teacher in the state had to have their salaries raised due to contracts and parity. This law started the largest boondoggle in the state history for the state budget--education.
And the creator of the lease-purchase scam, where boards of educations, municipalities could now BYPASS the voters with this scheme using legalese in order to build new schools, school additions, municipal complexes, etc. ALL WITHOUT voter approval. Not a fiscal conservative.
And who had the larges care fleet for state employees in the history of the state.

a milestone in my life, this is where (state house) and when I started my political activism as a youngster going with my aunt to trenton, dressed as hobos because the income tax was going to put us in the poor house, protesting the NEW and TEMPORARY state Income and Sales taxes started by byrne. That's right, before one-term byrne, NJ had NO income or sales taxes and managed to pay for all state services.

When my father was an 18 year old working in the parking lots at Newark Airport, he was questioned in a corruption scandal by none other than Essex County DA Brenden Byrne. My dad said he was the most arrogant a--hole that you can imagine.
