Georgia Flag Vote update
Southern Heritage PAC ^ | Jan 25 | SHPAC

Posted on 01/27/2005 10:15:33 AM PST by DixieOklahoma

Support Georgia's right to have a REAL vote on their state flag... The only vote issued did not include the flag that sparked all the controversay in the first place!.

In addition, only 6% of registered voters showed up at the polls, BECAUSE the real Georgia state flag wasn't included in the referendum!!

There is currently a bill that has just been filed with the Georgia State House to allow the real flag to be included in a statewide vote, as well as the current flag.

No matter your feeling on the flag personally... There SHOULD BE a vote on this state flag. After all it is the people of the state of georgia that the flag represents! Right is right, and the people should have a vote on their stolen state flag.

RINO governor (the liar) Perdue, who will be defeated in his re election attempt in 2006, has vowed that this bill will be killed in comittee.

Lets see that that doesn't happen:

Well, Red, I guess you're right. It seems we are at odds yet again. I fall into Jefferson's camp on this one. I see government as a necessary evil that should be constrained by our Constitution, the rule of law, and a system of checks and balances. As I am not an anarchist, I am not interested in dismantling the government. You have me pegged on that one. Chaos really doesn't interest me. Nor does the power vacuum that would occur if the government was dismantled. That's an invitation for tyranny. But that and my stance on the lottery are issues for another day and time, this thread is about the flag, and I'd like to stay on topic.

Again, I don't see my position as caving in to the PC gestapo. I simply believe that what you want the flag to symbolize differs greatly from what is actually the perception of others, and in that case, it's a poor form of expression. If I was caving in to the PC gestapo, I would attack you for expressing pride in being Southern at all, and that is most decidedly not my position. And while there is lots of talk about caving in to the PC gestapo, I believe the truculence exhibited by most supporters of flag makes them equally guilty of the censorship they claim to be fighting. You cannot make a reasoned argument against the flag without being called "an anti-Southern bigot", "Yankee", "snivelling coward" or much worse. Perhaps you should consider for a moment that my convictions, and others who happen to agree with me on this issue, are every bit as strong as yours.

At this point, I believe we have both made our points and are now talking in circles on this issue. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this, but I do wish you well, however misguided I might believe you to be. :-)

The problem is that if you look back 50 or 100 or 150 years ago it's hard to see that Southerners were especially freer than people in other parts of the country. Breaking up the country would have done little more than to replace federal authority -- quite weak until the mid 20th century -- with powerful and overbearing local elites.

You may not like how things are now, but a look around the world may confirm that breaking up the country into smaller ones is likely to make things worse rather than better. Freedom for like-thinking people to impose whatever rules they prefer isn't always compatible with real liberty for individuals, as history shows.

If flying the Confederate battle flag or naval jack isn't a non-political tribute to brave men who fought and died years ago, but a statement in favor of disunion, it's hard to see how this will help advance your cause with most Americans or most Southerners.

You admit in your post that the flag is divisive. That is my entire point, and the bottom line. In my view a flag should be a uniter and not a divider period.

well sweetheart if you were capable of reading my reponses you would have seen that i said "I HAVE NO OPINION ON WHAT THE STATE FLAG OF GEORGIA SHOULD BE" I only have the opinion that my fellow southernors in Georgia can vote on the issue...

See I have that right, without having an opinion on which flag, to say it is unfair for my fellow southernors not to have a vote. Not only are we citizens of the same country but we are also both southernors...I am linked to Georgians in a way that you probably can't really undertand. we are both southern you see, and therefore share a common heritage and culture.

Kind of like if somebody asked you what you were, you'd say italian or german or i'm from an italian neighborhood.

Well, I'd say i'm southern... Thats the closest I can come to explaining to you the situation. I would say "i'm from a southern neighborhood which stretches from just above miami to north carolina to Oklahoma." where you would say "I'm from a neighborhood in new york that is known for being italian, therfore i'm italian". I'm southern, you see?

Most people in Georgia are tired of these clowns and wish they would get a life. The horse is dead, and it's time to stop beating it.

I agree.

I like the new flag and these 'flaggots' (as Neal Boortz calls them) can go piss up a rope.

Not only am I a member of the UDC and the DAR, but I am a Georgia voter.

Not only am I a Southerner, but I even know how to spell the word.

Most of us in Georgia are quite happy with our current flag, we're tired of the entire issue, and we don't want any more of our tax dollars spent on more new flags or more referendums, and....

We wish to hell that people who don't even live in our state would quit agitating and trying to stir up controversy where there is none!

So could you please shut up and go away now? Thanks in advance.

crybaby alert

Hey sweetheart the spelling 'southernor' is the alternative way to spell 'southerner'. 'Southernor' came about before and during the civil war to make the word 'southern' to distinctly mean the American South.

Today 'Southron', 'Southroner' or 'Southernor' are all self defining ways to describe yourself if you are a proud American 'southerner'.

What an uneducated slob. I bet you feel stupid. I should expect no less from someone of your ilk.

So you are telling me that the people of your home state like being told what they should accept?? LOL maybe I am more in touch with GA state than you are. But like I said I only have the opinion that my fellow southrons in the state ought to have a vote on this issue.. Not what way the vote should be. I'm sure that is a hard concept for a pea brain like yourself to comprehend.

go away you swine.

I started the article, you can leave at any time... traitor. Maybe you should look the lockbox that you keep your testicles in, and defend southern heritage and culture, instead of being a coward and bending over for political correctness.

Another 'real' Georgian who is a direct decent from robert e lee, and actually fought for the south during the civil war, but doesn't favor a vote on the flag.

I am starting to think that the LIAR has his people monitering this board! LOL we're commin at ya sonny and there's nothin ya can do.

There is currently a bill that has just been filed with the Georgia State House to allow the real flag to be included in a statewide vote, as well as the current flag.

Your post led me to check out the history of the flags of Georgia. Apparently, Georgia has had at least eight state flags in the past.

Which one of those many flags is the one that you are calling the real flag and how do you know that it's the the real real flag? ;-)

well, the meaning of 'real flag' is the vote on the 'real flag' that was promised by republican governor sonny perdue.

The flag was repalced without a vote, and sonny campaigned on a platform that the flag would get a vote. What he delieverd was a vote on 2 different flags, neither flag was the one he promised a vote on, The REAL flag is the flag he promised a vote on.

Okie, if I'm not mistaken, you've already had one post removed for using similar language.

Your use of ad hominems and abusive language is not only a violation of posting rules, but reflects poorly on the "Southern heritage" you claim to promote.

If you are going to claim to represent Southerners, I wish you'd act as if you had some manners.

It would also be nice if you'd check your typing before you post. Your misspellings and grammatical errors look really ignorant, and you know the rest of the country already believes we're stupid and hateful. No need in giving them more ammunition.

The REAL flag is the flag he promised a vote on.

Maybe you didn't notice it, but my last post contained a link to a web page showing that Georgia has had several state flags in its history. Now, if neither one of us (you or me) knows which one of those state flags is the state flag you've been calling the real flag (and I don't know which one of those state flags is the the state flag you've been calling the real flag), then I guess it's fair to conclude that neither of us knows what we're talking about here.

Right? ;-)
