The 2004 Eagle Award Committee wanted to give something to Jim Robinson to show our appreciation for all he has done for the conservative cause. We decided to give him a special "Tribute Award" at the Ball and during the discussion, it was suggested a gift would also be in order. Anyone who knows Jim knows that outiside his salary to run FR LLC, he has always been reluctant to accept anything from FReepers. At one time Jim had mentioned a special seat that rotates and lowers from a van and how it would be much easier for him to get around and make visits to chapters around the country. We did some investigating, found the seat and decided to run a "secret" fundraiser to raise the money. In order to make this a surprise, we used our FReepmail and ping lists to send out a request and asked others to also forward to their lists..kind of a FReeper chain mail operation. We think it was successful as I had some people tell me they received 6 or 8 copies of the same memo. If you did not receive one, I apologize, we did the best we could with the covert nature of the operation. (BTW - If you would still like to contribute, there is an opportunity, see below).
To all the donors, thank you very much. We did have one problem, because of the make and model of Jim's Van the existing backseat was not recommended for conversion by the manufacturer nor the dealer which increased the cost by around $600. If you didn't get a "chain mail" notice and you would like to contribute to this effort, you may still do so by check or credit card here.
NOTE TO BALL ATTENDEES- We didn't see many pics of the Eagle winners or Nick Danger handing them out. If you do have some, please post them here! THANKS!
Glad we could do it for such a good man.
Enjoy, Jim.
Thanks Bob J no mention necessary. Glad it all worked out.
Contribution on its way. Thanks for the ping your honor! Bob J. thanks for putting this together!
Was glad to contribute! ;o)
Just sent a contribution for the 'special seat'.
Bump, check is in the mail soon

THANK YOU, Jim, for making this forum my home away from home.
And THANK YOU, Bob, for putting together this small tribute and allowing us a way of showing our appreciation to Jim in a more tangible way. That, and the ability to be a MONTHLY DONOR. (If you're not, you oughtta be.)
Wonderful idea for a gift for JimRob!
Thanks for letting us see what it looks like!
And thanks for your hard work in making it happen.
I still get chill bumps when I realize I was logged in for post #47 and Howlin's "Go get 'em."
Is this what a Pamphleteer felt like?
BTTT!
I didn't get a secret freepmail. Count me in $ 25.,Check's in the mail .
Yes-- I also received a pile of pings and was delighted to get them! Showed that the word was getting around -- even if on the hush!!
Keep us posted as to the extra $$ being reached. I know how generous Freepers are, so I know you won't have a problem, but if needed, let us know.
The seat looks great!
Can you take a donation by paypal? If so, freep mail me the information.
I hope that works out long term for Jim.
I am partial to Ford and Braun lifts, 20plus yrs. exp.
However our next venture is this ugley Van, but you don't have to drop the floor or lift the roof it is already done.
It is a Dodge Yuk with a Mercedes Diesel Engine OK.
We will add a braun lift.
If anyone else is looking for long term wheelchair accessible vans, please feel free to contact us.
We are just consumers not salesmen.
Here is a link to what I call "the Israelli Ambulance". Ugley but will work long term.

Good on ya for that.
When we raise th $$ for Jim's new van, I bet you WILL be pinged.
Was wondering if Jim had the seat yet. Good job - very nice!
They need to do some measurements (some on Jim himself) so that will be done in e next few days, then they will install the seat.
