The War Against Boys on the FR

Boys lead the way in special education, dropping out of high school, drug abuse, suicide and crime; more girls enter and graduate college than boys; more girls are valedictorians in high school. Girls are more active in high school and join more clubs and activities. It's an important issue to address today. Who do we have to thank for all of this? The feminists. The book will enlighten you.

I wonder if she will talk to James Dobson? He has a book Bring up Boys and has been fighting this fight for years. Let boy's be boy's. Femie's want boy's to be girl's lite.

I think what our First Lady is doing is wonderful.

I have a 22 year old son, who's a college student, and a 25 year old married daughter, who is a teacher. So I see this from both sides.

I love the fact that young women are groomed to know that they can be anything they want to be. I tried to instill that in both of my children.

However, young men without a strong parental base may be slipping through the cracks, at the expense of those educators with a feminist agenda. Laura Bush is very astute to realize this, as not many have.

Laura will go down in history as one of the the greatest First Ladies ever. I'm sure she has much more to offer us in the next four years, and I'm looking forward hearing it.

Another thread notes that Jane Fonda is involved in a program to push for success of girls.

Cool. A mud-wrasslin' contest between Laura, representing the XYs, and Hanoi Jane, representing the XXs.

I might pull up a chair and watch.

If there is real follow-through on this, it's good news indeed.

Wait a doggone minute. This has not been vetted through polls nor tested in focus groups. Laura Bush is making her own decision. Is the First Lady allowed to make up her own mind which causes to promote?

Class and Style. Character matters.

You soon realize that your children are totally their own person. Some require more nurturing than others...to level the playing field. But offering them the same things, from sports to academics gives them incentives and experiences. They were great years.

Grandchildren are a little different as you can find yourself still nurturing your own child. There is no end to motherhood. What a great gift.

"I love the fact that young women are groomed to know that they can be anything they want to be."

I disagree. My wife and I have come across countless cultural instances where girls are to be "domestic" and to some degree, "bratty" or "bitches." Browse through a toy or parenting magazines, and you'll see girls playing with dolls or kitchen toys while boys play with telescopes or trucks. Ever seen some of the new girl oriented TV or dolls? WOW! The next generation seems to think they are to get what they want and an extra ten bucks for their trouble

Although most people pretend to be ignorant of the causes, most aren't, really. To have been truly ignorant of why so many boys aren't doing well, one would have seen no television at all during the 1990s, attended no school or job,...

Many of the world's wealthiest men are philanderers who pay billions for feminism--"affirmative action," no-fault divorce, feminist offices in government, business, etc. High divorce rates enlarge and cheapen labor pools with available women. Beyond the general defamations and hatred against men, fatherlessness is one common and related cause of misery and failure in the lives of young men. Spoiled men find it easy to blame other men. Bill O'Reilly's recent scandal after his many public, generalized defamations against fathers is one example.

Here's another good book. In my experience, it's probably the most easy-to-read research report from honest, objective research.

Divorced Dads: Shattering the Myths
by Sanford L. Braver, Diane O'Connell

Regardless of our having adopted romanticism against marriage about 150 years ago, romanticism is antithetical to Christianity. So is feminism.
