Strategists Eyeing Deal for Clinton Third Term

Political strategists are reportedly pondering a deal that would allow Bill Clinton to run for president again by getting Republicans to agree to a change in the constitutional ban on third terms.

Calling it "a long shot," U.S. News & World Report says the deal would work like this:

"Congressional Democrats will OK a constitutional amendment allowing naturalized citizens like California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to run for president if Republicans help kill the 22nd Amendment."

"Right now it's the talk among political strategists," says the magazine's Washington Whispers section. "But look for it to spread on Capitol Hill when Sen. Orrin Hatch reintroduces his plan to let naturalized citizens run for president after 20 years."

Clinton himself has boasted that he "could be re-elected" one more time.

After an impromptu interview with the Las Vegas Weekly four years ago, the paper observed, "Clinton had obviously researched the subject."

He spoke "for five minutes about constitutional law and academic studies about the prospect" of changing the 22nd Amendment.

"Some constitutional experts think it is possible," the ex-prez said.

Funny, Castro says the same thing...

Let's do a trade.

We'll help kill the 22d Amendment if the Dems will go along with killing off the 17th.

Bad law all the way around. Let's not screw with the constitution for immediate political effect.

Clinton thinks he can win again? People don't even want to visit his library, for fear of becoming depressed or picking up some disease.

Fat chance, Bubba. You've got a better chance of doing it with Hillary in your lifetime.

NO WAY.....the last thing we need is a return to the Clinton 'sabbatical' years....when the terrorists plotted, planned and trained for the 'day of fire'!

Setting aside the fact that the Constitution should NOT be changed for specific people...

Clinton himself has boasted that he "could be re-elected" one more time.

Then he'd have to wait his turn until W was done.

It's very hard to change the Constitution. 3/4 of the states must approve.

Opposition to gay marriage is running at 70% and the chance of a gay marriage ban I'd say is less than 50-50.

Both of these amendments are DOA.

I'm not in favor of changing the amendment to facilitate
Slick Willy! And I'm not in favor of allowing foreign
born citizens to ascend to the Presidency or Vice-Presidency either. They can become governors, Reps and
Senators, or be elected to any other office of their
choice. But those two positions should remain sacrosanct.

I like Arnie, but not enough to drop the citizenship requirement for President. And certainly not at the risk of electing the Letcher-in-Chief again.

This is so much nonsense. Bill Clinton is on his last legs. If he has 4 years left or 1, he is not long for this world.

Removing the 22nd amendment would be beneficial to G.W. Bush and the U.S. No democrat wants that!

No to naturalized and no to 3rd term.

Congress may propose and pass it, but then it goes to the states where good sense is more abundant than on Capitol Hill.
