Correction. When I got to bed at 2am, it was 11pm on the West Coast. I was up for 41 hours.

Hiya Doug!. Just got in from shoveling 6 inches of snow at the Jersey Shore, with more on the way! Where's the Ibuprofein?

I sat down to relax at FR, and ,lo and behold, I see your report.

Thanks so much for the account of your trip to DC. I loved your "motor home" comment, the descriptions of the great unwashed, and the shout outs to the Gigolo and wife.

Now we need a song from you on your near death experience from the salmon bone. Something akin to the "Hang Down Your Head, Tom Dooley" tune with the words bespeaking the horror of going to die from a salmon bone down the wrong way, or some such.

Arlington is a great place to stay when going to DC--usually stay at the Hyatt and take the Metro which is right across the street. Much easier to navigate trafficwise.

Sorry that I could not be there. Hopefully I'll see you on a future trip to DC for an FR event-like Condi's inauguaral in '09.

I may be back in DC in mid-March on business, and then meet up with Mrs. DFU in Boston. I can't believe I have never been to Boston. There are so many FReepers I still want to meet across the country.

Loved your account! So happy to have met one of FR's finest.

Going from Pacific time to Eastern and back to Pacific in such a short time ---- and without sleep,--- must really mess up your cycle thingy!!

That Omega 3 must give you great eyes, as when I went up to shake your hand -- in the darkened ballroom, you didn't even squint to read my nametag. I was very impressed!

Dittos on your comments about JimRob! Bless this true patriot!

INAUGURAL REPORT: ... 2)protestors

Sorry I didn't get to meet you at the FR Ball.

Didn't get to see the parade either, but enjoyed seeing some justice administered.

This was the show I saw while waiting in the security checkpoint line (more like a sea of humans that filled the whole street) at 7th & D

Picture of anarchist rioters getting beat down (HooRah!).

From the anarchist web site, they claim this was at 4th & D, but it looks just like the beat-down I saw at 7th & D (the photographers were at that vantage point).

I was at the edge of the crowd waiting to get to the checkpoint, about 15 yards to the right edge of the photo.

A few minutes later a bunch of motorcycle cops showed up, wound their way through us from the opposite direction, then turned and formed a line facing us.

They encouraged us to move away from the mess, back up the street, and away from the checkpoint, by gently edging their bikes into us.

I'd had enough fun at this point, had waited an hour +, and figured it would take that long to clean up the situation.

I went and had a beer at the Legal Seafood up the street, then went back to my brother's place to get ready for the FR Ball.

A FReeper brought me a plate of food with salmon on it. It was a lifesaver, or so I thought. Because I was occupied, I don't even know who did it.

Could have been the same guy who tried to take out the Ukranian Presidential candidate.

No, it was DCBryan1 who was just trying to be helpful. He gave me a warning note, but I was just so tired I didn't see it. I'm pretty sure he is on our side. :)

No problem, Doug! My husband 'zelig' (aka "The Dancing Machine") was doing enough dancing for all of us! ;-)

I was so happy to finally meet you in person! We read your John Kerry book on the Metro ride home and laughed and laughed! The other riders kept glancing over at us... ;-D

Glad to hear you are safe and sound at home. Be glad you 'got outta Dodge' when you did... you don't want to be anywhere near the northeast US right about now...

Tonk, I need a little help...

see post #55.

We have a Marine, he withstood a mortar attack and now he has some limbs in danger.

There is a Prayer thread and we need you and yours to join in.
