Very little has been said about mexico's dealings with the chicoms, or iran for that matter.

I read an article some time back that mentioned something about the Mexicans allowing the PLA to conduct join military exercises in Mexico.

Vicente Fox was here not all that long ago too.

China is trying to wrap as much of their fingers around Mexico, Central and South America as they can.

Sounds like the Toronto Star is trying to start a war of its own with this article. I'm not taking the bait.

I know that in 2001 they signed a strategic partnership. Vowing to boost econmic, scientific, etc. ties. They also vowed to cooperate on other common matters of interest. (US, I guess.) Iran has an allience with them too. These things explain their arrogance to my mind. I believe the corrupt mexican govt. is a sock puppet for bejing.

or we could annex 250 more miles south. Then we would have a negotiating position. We would merely be securing the home territory of many of the new Americans.

Perhaps the Chicoms are seeking to use Germany's old idea of getting the Mexicans to do their dirty work?

Well, there is precedent. I think Zachery Taylor went all the way to Monterey and Winfield Scott invaded at Yucatan and with the brilliant staff work of Captain Robert E Lee, marched on Mexico City. In a combined arms effort, the US marines captured the Halls of Montezuma.

It was a humbling experience for Santa Ana and might be again for the Fox.

Yep....

My nephew enlightened me with the book "Gone for Soldiers : A Novel of the Mexican War"

It is a great book delving into the politics of an early American effort at war and world diplomacy. It is erirely like the present day where the euros cluck cluck and raise diplomatic problems while a brilliant American General goes quickly for the enemies capital with supply lines not completely secure. It gives cameos for all the officers eventually fighting the civil war. They were battle hardened in combat in Mexico.

I would suspect there are Mexicans who still hold a grudge.

Actually, they are being greeted with open arms. It's pretty sickening, imo. It's pretty obvious the folks down there aren't very good students of history. For all it's problems with the FARC, Colombia has been doing well as a democracy for around 200 years, I believe. Chile is doing pretty well with some capitalist ventures. The rest of the socialist/communist wannabes aren't doing so well...except for the socialist/communists holding the reins.

Mexico does what's best for Mexico, don't blame them, they don't set American immigration policy.
