New Yorks child and family health plus(I think that is the official name of the program)has just about bankrupted the upstate counties.
The law of unintended consequences always happens as some employees and employers reportedly discontinued insurance to go on the program.

I may be wrong but from personal observation Medicaid is one of the most abused and wasteful gimme programs that the gov has ever come up with.

I'll bet Bush doesn't even think about cutting "Emergency Medicaid". This is the medicaid for illegal immigrants. I would like to see the total of American medicaid and the total of emergency medicaid. Bush will cut Americans but he won't cut illegals. Mexicans come across the border for emergency medicaid daily.

Personally, I would ELIMINATE all of these programs, including social security, and shut down all entitlement programs, shut down 90% of the Federal Government. HUD? OSHA? DOE? HHS? FAA? ... And this is what it's all about. It's not about fixing anything. It's not about making Americans better off in the long run (FORGET about SAFER), it's about power. Medicare, medicaid, social security...... the dems have been squawking about it fovea.... anybody notice they never FIX it? No, they just keep screaming that Republicans will take it all away, and YOU, aging American will be huddled in a cardboard box somewhere! Now, a Republican President really wants to fix it....for the long term, so that the funds will be there for those who need them. Who's opposed? The DEMOCRATS! Here's the deal, for those who've been asleep for the last 30 years..... if somebody FIXES the problem, then the Dems don't have anything to run on!
