CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH!!!!
Continuous coverage on C-SPAN. Spotty everywhere else.
Now let's not get personal. ;^)
I don't know why, maybe because I was so emotional during the 2000 Inauguration, but I just don't remember them playing that song for them.
The movie it's from, "Laura," is a haunting old-time movie.
"Cast:
Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Clifton Webb, Vincent Price, and Judith Anderson
Overview:
High style is the hallmark of this intelligently written mystery about a circle of suspicious Manhattan society folks who knew the dead Laura. Webb is delicious as the acid-tongued newspaper columnist. Detective Andrews falls in love with Laura, although he's never met her. David Raksins theme music is haunting." -- who knew "haunting would be in the review, too.
I can't WAIT to get Deb's report!!!
Home to BED, methinks.........
WHAT? Since when did Andrew Sullivan get his head back on straight? What's he saying?
Tommy LaSorda on, at CIC Ball, saying he has had tears in his eyes about 15 times.
Says the troops are so great. President, Veep, Dad Bush, and lots of others have stopped by to speak.
Some hag was on CSpan tonight carping that while Laura did indeed pay for her Oscar da Renta outfits, she paid much less than retail. I wonder if Hillary paid retail for the gown he did for her for the second inaugural. Her gown for the first inaugural was hideous, a purple (royal) lace number done by an Arkansas designer who is now out of business, lol. And yes I remember seeing the photo of the granny dress she got married in and reading that she and her Mom went shopping shortly before the wedding and bought it off the rack.
Our President was so funny tonight. He saw some of his friends from the great state of Texas....and said...I see several of my Texas Friends am surprised they were there how'd you ever get through the security check.
Yes, she better have pics, although she doesn't know how to post them..LOL
Mabelkitty, I trust you that they're expensive.
Nothing off the rack could be so stunning.
I've broken my own cardinal rule learned here on FR - "Don't believe the liberal media!"
Sorry Per, tell your wife I was misguided, or gullible as it may be.
Those lucky kids...Wonder how they were chosen.
I loved the sign last night at the Texas Black Tie and Boots Ball that said "No Weapons"...
I know that Peggy took a leave from the Wall Street Journal during the campaign to work for a candidate, but she never said who it was. She's always one to critique speeches cause writing is her profession.
I know what you mean. My reaction was, "Can't you give it a rest just for tonight, Alan?"
I am waiting to see if Greta has more coverage or if she reverts to Scott Peterson stuff. I need to go to bed, since I have been up since 4 AM (I wasn't a bit excited).
How long has she been on the outside and how did that come about, if you know?
Frankly, this is the first time Peggy ever said something less than flattering about any of his speeches and although I was shocked, I took it from someone who seems to respect our President and was giving an honest assessment. When Brit asked her earlier what she thought, she was non-committal and I assumed something he said didn't sit well with her. I'd rather believe that than to believe there might be sour grapes involved.
Fox...Tony Snow on now, then Don King.
