"Laura" has always been one of my all-time very favorites, along with "Speak Low," so I've been in heaven watching every ball, and they play "Laura" for the First Couple's dance.

I don't know why, maybe because I was so emotional during the 2000 Inauguration, but I just don't remember them playing that song for them.

The movie it's from, "Laura," is a haunting old-time movie.

"Cast:
Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, Clifton Webb, Vincent Price, and Judith Anderson

Overview:
High style is the hallmark of this intelligently written mystery about a circle of suspicious Manhattan society folks who knew the dead Laura. Webb is delicious as the acid-tongued newspaper columnist. Detective Andrews falls in love with Laura, although he's never met her. David Raksin’s theme music is haunting." -- who knew "haunting would be in the review, too.

"Laura" was a fabulous movie and I believe the song won the Academy award. As for "Swing Low", I believe it was from "One Touch of Venus" with Ava Gardner and I can't remember her co-star's name but can see him clearly.
