Monumentally unremarkable speech made more forgettable by his need to continue the fiction, and implying once more that islam is just another religion of normal human beings.

Did you notice how many times he mentioned "God"? Could that be a finger in the eye to Newdow?

Very moving speech. You can really feel the quest for freedom in your soul and why we are this great nation.

1) There are some truly phenomenal lines in here, which I do think will become a part of our history: "we cannot carry the message of freedom and the baggage of bigotry at the same time."

2) Once again, Bush has emphasized LIBERTY---far more so than even the great Reagan did. Indeed, he is the first president in 150 years to dwell on liberty, as a principle, so much. Search Bush 41 and Clinton's speeches and I don't think you'll find the word. Ditto Carter, Ford, or LBJ. Maybe JFK once in a while.

3) He has brilliantly coopted the New Deal and Dem programs of the GI Bill and flipped them into the "ownership society" by "reforming" them so that they become increasingly privatized. This is hugh!

Many Freepers are going to complain because he isn't dismantling the Dept. of Ed or because he had add this Medicare "benefit," but in every one of these programs---the ed program, the Medicare bill---there are all sorts of privatized "easter eggs" that are going to open in the near future. I don't think people here fully appreciate how powerful the tinest privatization is. The market always wins, and all that is needed is a crack.

I heard a great speech from a visionary President.

We are fortunate and blessed to have him.

Thank G-d and all those who served and helped in our great victory.

"I ask our youngest citizens to believe the evidence of your eyes. You have seen duty and allegiance in the determined faces of our soldiers. You have seen that life is fragile, and evil is real, and courage triumphs. Make the choice to serve in a cause larger than your wants, larger than yourself - and in your days you will add not just to the wealth of our country, but to its character."

My favorite line of the address. The future rests in the hands of those young folks of military service age. I have said, and believe it, that the responsibility that rests on this current young generation is probably as great as that of the WWII generation. I think you are up to the challenge, and pray my confidence is based on reality.

This was a fantastic speech. He laid down a gauntlet, not just to the despots of the world, but to the presidents who follow him. I only hope he can follow through himself, because he set the bar pretty high.

The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands.

Then eradicate islam and liberate MEXICO and CANADA.

Kerry's Innaugaral Address - "Dear World, please forgive us for pushing our awful "liberty" on you. We will stop. Hope you do, too. Now to quote some profanity from our world renowned entertainers ...."

[ For as long as whole regions of the world simmer in resentment and tyranny - prone to ideologies that feed hatred and excuse murder - violence will gather, and multiply in destructive power, and cross the most defended borders, and raise a mortal threat. ]

Ah! so the plan is to do little or nothing on the Mexican border.. I see.. Getting the feeling president Bush is a security threat himself.. whatever hes smoking I wish he would stop it..
Who is his supplier, Nancy Pelosi.?.

"From the day of our Founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this earth has rights, and dignity, and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of Heaven and earth."

Can't dispute that without digging a hole for yourself.
