She is dizzy, almost wobbly. Her head aches, her coughing won't stop, and because she doesn't have enough money she has not filled her four prescriptions nor seen a doctor recently.

But that doesn't stop her.

Soon it will be midnight, and Ipifania Dominguez will be back at work cleaning up blood, bone and fat in the world's largest pork slaughterhouse. She'll be back in the "head room," as she calls it, where meat is cut from pigs' heads.

Instead of bankrupting American towns, cities, and states to line your pocket, shouldn't you be obeying the law ?

No, Walmart is the retail end of your beloved China. Indeed, if you start from the vantage point of what is best for China at America's direct expense, everything you have said makes perfect sense.

With 1.5 million employees and over $17 BILLION in sales, Walmart and America couldn't disagree with you more.

I don't see that as a responsive answer. I also note that you have been posting today just as long as I have.

I wasn't trying to be trite. I really don't spend a lot of time thinking about TB or bovine TB or ecoli. So I don't have an answer for you. Whatever it is that I'm doing seems to be working fine, since I've never had TB. It's simply not a concern that enters my household on a daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly basis.

I noticed that nowhere in the article is it mentioned how much these people are being paid for their hard labor, but I suspect that it is below minimum wage, and it's illegal to pay American citizens or legal immigrants below minimum wage.

It's nice that we can count you in the camp of immigrants when it comes to seeing they're paid a fair wage.

Legal hispanics dislike the idea of an amnesty for illegals as much as any other legal residents or citizens of the US.

Funny though, how Bush picked up more of their votes in the last election. I guess it's just not as big of a deal as the anti-immigration crowd makes it out to be.

Not where I live there aren't. I can assure you of this, because I HAVE looked. Unlike yourself, I don't state opinion as fact.

CBG, since when is paying American wages to American workers doing American jobs destroying the American economy ? Typical of the self-serving lies generated by the OBL.

But then again people who routinely engage in criminal behavior have to be very good at generating self-serving alibis for themselves. Others, as you have seen on this board, easily see through them.

That is a big part of it. The law. No matter how you slice it these people, the workers and the employers are violating the law.

The problem is, once they get an amnesty, they'll find better jobs and the pork slaughterhouse slave-master is going to just hire more illegal immigrants for the same crap wages he'll no longer be legally allowed to pay his current employees, thus compounding the already dire problem we have with illegal immigration in this country.

In terms of services like housecleaning and nannies, it may mean that fewer of the comfortably affluent will be able to afford this luxury, or that they may have to eat out at the fancy French restaurant one time less per month. Oh well.

Talk about oversimplifications! I pay someone to clean my house, or paint it, or mow my lawn because my time is more valuably spent as a money manager.

In the 1980's Reagan passed and amnesty with the hopes that one of the benefits would be a sever slowing of Illegal immigration. It did not work then, and it will not work now.

This is just a byproduct of misguided minimum wage laws.

Some jobs just aren't worth $6.75 an hour (in California) or $7.35 an hour (in Washington, the highest minimum wage in the nation, and pegged to inflation), but it's illegal to pay someone less than that to do them, so since they already have to break that law to hire anyone at all, what difference does it make to them if they hire someone who's not legally permitted to work for them?

Impressive. Thanks.

I've got to go focus on what feeds me so I'm off for a while.

If you lived in my area I would do it for $25 hour.

No employees = no employers. Companies having to outsource, relocate overseas and close means less GNP.

He would probably want someone with a steady work history who could pass the background check. How disturbing it would be to find you, instead of working, sitting behind his computer posting socialist bilge under the name Presidio9.

Dear presidio9,

"Talk about oversimplifications!"

Gee, and I thought my response was overly long. ;-)

"I pay someone to clean my house, or paint it, or mow my lawn because my time is more valuably spent as a money manager."

Well, then, if your time is more valuably spent as a money manager, you'll just need to pay whatever the market requires to attract the workers you desire.

Without breaking the law by hiring individuals who have broken immigration law.

If you can't find someone who will do the task for less than it costs you by diverting your time from more profitable pursuits, then you have the choice of doing the work yourself.

When I moved to my new home, I found the cost of getting a one acre lawn mowed was high enough that I started mowing the lawn myself.

It's kind of fun to run around on the riding mower.

Incidents of TB spread by illegals are growing but since you haven't been affected, hey, no problema ! That utter moral obliviousness to the consequences of your actions, behavior that a jury could well find constitutes "depraved indifference", is the OBL in a nutshell.

If incidences of cholera, typhus, diptheria, etc, all those Third World diseases multiply due to illegal immigration, hey, not your problem so long as you saved money on labor costs !

You have no problem with illegals breaking the law. I'm glad I don't have you as my money manager.
