Yeah usually freepers are so fast I am hesitant to post for fear of the "double post" patrol, plus there are always enough posts to keep me busy. I've only posted once and I've been here for over 4 years! But boy I sure like to make comments....

Oh, I know. I'm sure some Lefty would try and re-enact Tiananmen Square or some stupid stunt like that. Clearly not appropriate.

But I was just enamored with the thought of an Abrams MBT rumbling up to the steps of the Capitol...

The TC pops the hatch, clambers up, snaps a salute...

Dubya climbs out, wearing the tux, and half of female FReeperdom faints dead away. We'd be days reviving them.

It's on Penn. Ave.

I think the DC FO is over near the Navy Yard, not in the JEH Building.

in the days when traffic was allowed to traverse in front of the white house, a group of japanese tourists asked me to take their picture in front of the whitehouse... i obliged and at the precise moment i snapped the shutter... a mayflower moving truck obstructed the entire thing...

i had to explain that i had to take another picture and when they lined up again, i took off running... got 50 bucks for that camera and 65 bucks for the lens...

i miss dc

Thanks for the ping MeekOneGOP, but this thread is an over 2 hour old breaking news story with no links and not a hellavu lot of info. Another one of those Fox News alert attention getters.

"I sure donated to the Inauguration...I thought it was funded that way!"

You are correct, JOY. The Inauguration and parties are privately funded. Security, however, is additional.

Congressman Weiner (D-NY) was on Fox deploring the money spent on the event. President Bush's first inauguration had to be quickly put together and they are trying to cheat him and his supporters of the celebration that is deserved this time.

How low-key would a Kerry (God forbid!) inauguration have been?

I don't want to date myself too much but back in the 60's wasn't it on the corner of Constitution and something? Maybe not the JEH but FBI HQ since the great man in his frilly little things was still prancing around for Clyde.

Okay.

Just thought I'd do a courtesy ping since there are Freepers going to the Inauguration.

Just a little heads up.

Maybe they should offer the creator of the inaugural map, along with a few members of these hate groups, a seat in the Presidential limo. I doubt if there would be any trouble then. (No muslims from these groups; they'd want those virgins.)

I have also had some ask to take pictures of our oldest daughter when she was a baby.

When I was in South Korea, I was taking a walk up Namsan and had some Korean tourists approach me and ask if they could have their picture taken with me. I have no idea why or if perhaps they thought I was someone famous. Or maybe they were from a rural area and had never seen a caucasian woman in person before, who knows. I was with my boss and they didn't want his picture at all.

They're the FBI, why don't they go up an ask them what they are doing.

Go ahead--state the obvious!! Just rain on everybody's parade--hee-hee!

People spotted taking pictures and writing notes while checking out buildings along the route.

I think they're called tourists.

".....law enforcement had observed people taking notes along the parade route."

Why didn't the law enforcement go up and just ask them what they were doing?

J. Edgar Hoover HQ is on Pennsylvania & 10th.

DC Field Office is near the Washington Navy Yard.

Yes but really the distance is the biggest problem. The building is so large that it looks like the view is ok but when everyone is standing up there you realize that it is impossible to make out what is happening.

Also bring a radio so you can listen. We really had no idea of what was happening last time.
