One of our biggest ongoing frustrations here is with the media. As you know, I have mentioned this a number of times. Besides distorting as well as down right lying about stuff (especially the good stuff) they seem to be bent on re-creating another Viet Nam. The two wars are nowhere in the same ball park, and everybody over here knows it, including those who were in 'Nam personally, those who remember it and those who have studed it. . What I am going to say may be a bit "out there", but here is what I think is another component of Enemy's longterm strategies. I need to give a bit of clarification in order to make my point.
First, the truth about the situation over here. In spite of what you are hearing on the news, the majority of the Iraqi people are STILL thrilled we are here. They want a crack at liberty and democracy, their leaders understand that it is going to be a long haul until they are stable, they are risking everything to defy the jihadists as well as the insurgents. The Kurds in particular are ecstatic over the prospect of being a part of representative government. The vast majority of the jihadists are not Iraqi, and could give a rip about this country. They only want to destroy the Great Satan (us) and will use their bludgeoned brethren for their own ends. They should not be lumped together with insurgents. Insurgents see themselves as patriots for Iraq on their own terms, and while they are dangerous, their numbers are a comparative handful. The jihadists are from a number of countries, mostly Syria, and are responsible for most of the trouble.
As an illustration-- I don't know if you remember the incident last fall when jihadists attacked a neighborhood celebration hosted by the soldiers who had completed the first local sewer system. They attacked while the children were getting candy from the soldiers, and about 35 kids were killed. This was the work of jihadists, not insurgents. By and large Iraqis are going to be more protective of their own families, as they understand that the future of the country rests with the kids. This brings me to the sort of "out there" point that I mentioned at the first.
Those of us who were alive during and shaped by the Viet Nam era remember that in the 3 or 4 years of 1966-70, or so, our whole country came undone, with the controversy over the war primarily functioning as the fuel for the rebellion. Jesus People came along in '70, many of us were saved then, and God spared our generation from what I am sure the enemy would have loved to have been annihilation, largely at our own hand. So, we passed Roe v Wade and annihilated a significant portion of the next generation. The remnant of that annihilation has been called everything from the Joshua to the Elijah generation, and they are being activists for God in the way that many of us were activists for the Darkness. They stand, for example, in front of the Supreme Court right now to be a reminder of the those who cannot speak for themselves as Roe v Wade is going to be debated yet another time in a few days. Have you noticed that there is a virtual blackout as far as the media is concerned? Roe v Wade is probably the most far reaching judicial decision since Dred Scott, will be argued next week, and it is a non event in our media. Pray that the bloggers will prevail!!!!
If the media can do everything from trying to discredit the President, cause him to appear to be a self-serving imperialist, make the soldiers look like maniacal butchers and murderers, and hide from the rest of the world the fact that the God of Abraham wants to visit the land of Abraham's birth, then back home we could potentially face the creation of a whole another disillusioned and disenfranchised generation who could blow out worse than we did. Also, intercessors back home could be tempted with unbelief as to the hopelessness of the situation over here. Intercessors, be encouraged!!! The people want freedom and are willing to pay for it as we Americans did when we were 13 colonies wanting liberty even if it meant death. They will vote, I promise. The soldiers all around are good, and believe in what they are doing, but they get wearied by the media slant and frustrated with how the truth does not get back to the States, or anywhere else, for that matter. I also hope that the tide does not turn against them when they come back home as was the case for 'Nam vets.
So having said all this, pray that the TRUTH will break out in the media as to what is really going on here. Pray that the good news of liberty ( and therefore the invited presence of the Lord, according to scripture) being birthed is spread further and faster than all the ongoing negativity. This is for the Iraqi people, it is their hour, to be sure. However, the fallout back home could be horrific if the populous becomes weary in well doing or fails to see the connection between the Iraqis' freedom and our own.
Again, thank you for remembering us especially in the next sure-to-be-wild two weeks. I speak for the soldiers and fellow contractors over here when I say God bless you all.
With love to all from behind the wall of what was Saddam's evil playground in Bagdad.

copied, printed, hanging in locker room, taking on trains to ears that can hear
Pass on to your friend that there are many many people here who do not believe everything the MSM puts out. Prayers offered for the safety of our men and women in Iraq, and for the Iraqi people and their fledgling democracy.
Prayers up!
Only a fool wouldn't.
I heard a prophecy several years ago regarding the speeding up of God's activities.
It was something about .. what took years would now take months, what took months would now take days, what took days would now take hours, and what took hours would now take minutes.
I believe the speed up is already in progress.
Elections will go forward. Full speed ahead. Dam* the torpedoes.I know this is the right thing for Iraq and the Free World.
God bless President Bush and our Troops.
Interesting! I'll be happy to spread the word.
PING! News from the front!
Thanks for posting this.I tangled with a Liberal yesterday at Bally's that brought up the elections in Iraq. He asked me if I thought that the elections would go forward. This guy is a Troll, and he keeps on pecking at me. He makes it hard for me to be one of those "Compassionate" Conservatives sometimes, haha! I try to give the guy some slack, I really do. But he catches my full force when he starts in. When he asks for the Nuke, I give it to him. He got the Nuke yesterday.
I need to work harder on that "Compassionate" part, I guess.
