Hey everyone,
Been gone awhile but wanted to let all know that I'm back and am officailly a Airman (1st classs) in the United States Air Force.
BMT was an expierence...you have to go through it to understand it.
Well, I have to keep this short....I'm stationed at Goodfellow right now preparing to start classes for intel.
What a coincidence! That was also my flight #, and we were also a honor flight. I had a lot of fun in basic. I was the oldest guy in the flight. The TIs spent more "quality" time with the younger, less mature guys and left me pretty much alone. For instance I had an old Case XX pocket knife when I got there. The TI picked it up off the bunk looked at it and gave it back with instructions to keep it locked up in my security drawer.
I was also the only southern country boy in a flight with a bunch of guys from Boston, New Jersey and New York. Most of those guys had never held any weapon besides maybe a Saturday night special. I'll never forget live fire. Ready on the left flank, ready on the right flank, CEASE FIRE! BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM. (HINT: it wasn't me.) Those firing range instructors have NO sense of humor!
My dad yelled louder and longer, but he parented under the theory of I bought you into the world and I can take you out too. So do as you are told.
Get on the quarterdeck, jump up, do a pullup, swing your arms OVER the bar and come to the POA! A real attention-getter!
Congratulations Airman, good job.
Had a guy smuggle an organe back to the squadbay and was sucking the juice out of it after lights-out. I smelled it and was gonna ask for a couple of slices (he was two racks away). Just as I was gonna ask, saw the DI LOW CRAWLING along the wall. Next thing, I saw a big hand rise up and smash the orange on ol boy's grill! And heard, "Now LAY in it piglet!"
He had it on his mug at 0530! All I could do NOT to LMAO!
OOOOOOOHHH! That's worse than panties on your head!.....
Congratulations, thanks for joining the team!
Congratulations and thank you for your service! Finishing Navy boot was a big relief to me -- enjoy your newfound freedom!
Good for you, FReeper! You'll love the military!
I'd post some of my Boot Camp stories, but the Admins would boot camp my butt outta here.
Thanks for your service!
Thanks for serving. You will be in our prayers. Sincerely, you will.
LOL! That's too funny! Of course if you want to talk about people getting caught with food...we had a fatbody that had been losing weight all the way through 1st and second phase. Got to M&M week and the DI's figured the best place for him was to work scullery, all the half eaten food would make him not want to eat or something. Well...he gained about 25 lbs. eating leftovers off other recruit's plates before he washed them. He got recycled as well, but not before we all got bent for allowing one of our fellow recruits do that to himself. And of course being a Squad Leader, we got the worst of it.
Ahh Boot Camp...
No lie, a fatbody we had lost 55 lbs in boot camp. He was one of the GP recruits for FAT, I was one for laughing and just because my DI wanted the BEST in LIFE for me!
BWHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!
PS: Ever see any of your DI's? I saw BOTH of mine. One in Engineer School where he welcomed me with a gut punch and the other on Hansen when I was a SSgt and he was a MSgt. He yelled at me from HALF A BLOCK AWAY and the fear factor clamped my a$$hole shut! We had a few laughs at the Club over the old days.
Please pass on my good wishes to your lady!
Actually, no I never say any of my DI's after Boot. One was in Fire and Rescue, previously stationed at Camp Pendleton, I don't know where my Sr. was from and my favorite DI, Sgt. Skubic, no idea what his MOS was. Although I did see my recruiter again when I hit the Fleet. I was walking down the tank ramp one day and GNY Hernandez was checking into Charlie Co. That was kind of a trip, I had no idea he was a Tanker.
Congratulations, Blue Scourge!!
Oh and I ran into my 1st Sgt from Tank Battalion a couple of years after I got out. That was pretty weird.
