Source: [Ex-Clinton & Kerry Aide]Berger probe before grand jury

Ex-Clinton aide admits taking classified docs from archives. The criminal investigation of former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger – accused of pocketing highly classified terrorism documents prior to the Sept. 11 Commission hearings – is now before a federal grand jury, according to an anonymous source with knowledge of the probe.

"[Berger] has been interviewed several times by federal agents – FBI and prosecutors," the source told the New York Post.

Department of Justice spokesman Mark Corallo did not return WorldNetDaily's call requesting comment.

In October, a Justice spokesman told WND that a criminal investigation was ongoing, but he would not provide details about its nature or timing.

Berger, who had served as national security adviser to John Kerry's campaign, was reported in July to be under investigation for removing the documents and handwritten notes from a secure reading room at the National Archives.

He went out on the ledge and took those documents to cover Clinton .. so I don't think he'll take down Clinton

But there were others involved .. like Bruce Lindsey

If it is door #3, it won't be his choice!

It was a slip how those documents got into his pants, soxs, pants leg, etc. I want to hear him explain his way out of this, I just knew this wasn't going anywhere but now we have a grand jury investigation, sounds good to me. Sneaky Very Sneaky fella.

Golden Orchard, on my hands and knees I hope you re right. But, after Deutch and his computer caper, I just don't know.

I surely hope you are right; and maybe the Bushies will, in fact, press this egregious (and egocentric ) caper to its just conclusion. Dunno. I have to say I am from Missouri on this one. *S*

If Bushies are involved in a What-Had-It-Got-In-Its-Pocketses Berger prosecution, he'll walk. But if they are verifiably far away from it, the Administration will be happy to refrain from hindering something that hurts the Clintonses. And this could.

Actually it has been a before a grand jury since July. It appears I'm a better investigative reporter than the WND crew (what a shock).

Democrats denounce allegations against Berger

July 21, 2004

excerpt:

Government and congressional officials familiar with the investigation, who spoke only on condition of anonymity because the probe involves classified materials, said that a grand jury had been convened but that no decision had been made on whether Berger should face criminal charges.

~snip~

As to your "nothing will happen", I completely disagree. Time will tell which of us is correct.

Thanks for the ping. It's an article based on the New York Post's reporting. I remember reading their October report that WND had checked and the investigation was reported to be ongoing.

And so it is.
