I have been mad before, but never like this.....

Liberals have often left me teetering on the brink of insanity after hearing them speak, but after watching the repeat of Hannity and Colmes I am beyond words (well I am really not because I am writing this now). They had this professor on from the University of Texas named Robert Jansen who said he hopes our country loses the Iraq War. Now, I don't know if simply rooting for your country to lose (or in other words rooting for the enemy and death of our brave soldiers) in a war is criminal (maybe some law freepers can help me on that one), but as a teacher, this guy left me with no doubt that he should not be aloud to be in a classroom indoctrinating young people to his sick views. In fact if he preaches what he was saying on the show in his class, I am postive what he is doing is some form of treason (no way, liberal and treason in the same sentece?!?!). I am going to email The University of Texas and everyone on here should do so too and demand that they fire him for his treachorous acts (hopefully, they will at least watch him and ensure he does not preach his evil to his students or maybe we can just get all students there to drop his class, at least the ones who don't hate America). The various contact info is:

Robert Jensen (send him the most emails) Associate Professor 512-471-1990 rjensen@uts.cc.utexas.edu

Lorraine Branham Director of School of Journalism, G.B. Dealey Regents Professor 512-471-1845 lbranham@mail.utexas.edu

Larry R. Faulkner President president@po.utexas.edu

Office of Public Affairs Phone 512-471-3151 utopa@www.utexas.edu

Office of the Vice President for Community and School Relations Phone 512.471.9882 vpcsr@www.utexas.edu

Lay it to them hard my fellow freepers!!!!!!!!1

why does grammar always become the topic of the posts i write???

This is FR.

Want your grammar and grammar checked, your facts checked, your references verified, your math checked, your latin checked?

Just post on FR.

Sort of like that old adage, if you want to know everything about your family tree, run for office.

Well, not "legally" maybe. (Was that my "outloud" voice?)

I saw a young lady on campus wearing a "Long Live Falluja" T-shirt.

Texas A&M stopped celebrating the birthday of its founder because he was a Confederate officer and veteran.

Do you have a source/reference for this?

I'm interested in following up on it, for my own purposes.

Got nothing to do with you, don't get offended, but if you can refer me to something or have a source, I'd appreciate it.

I'll have nothing to do with censoring free speech and free thought on campuses. We have to fight for MORE not less free expression there

Free speech does not entitle anyone to indoctrinate their opinions on those that wish to learn truth. Free speech has nothing to do with this guy teaching. Everyone has an opinion. There is a great difference between "opinion" and "fact" most of the time on the Left.

Hell, my "opinion" is to make an oil slick out of much of the Middle East, but I wouldn't "teach" it to anyone!

Well, here's an interesting thought from the professor:

" So I try to bring in politics in a way that I don't try and hide it. I don't try to pretend to be neutral. What I try to do is highlight the assumptions of my politics. So for instance, in this critical thinking class, [I say] 'Here's the assumptions on which I make my judgments. Now let's examine the assumptions. You might disagree with them. Why? What evidence would you bring into this?' It's kind of a modeling of engaged political discourse, which I think needs to happen. But you know, professors often get very afraid that they'll be criticized for being political. To my mind, that's what we're there for, is to engage."

Another peace-loving, anti-war zealot. Can't figure it out...they say they are against "killing," but it's ok for despots and dictators to kill people in the name of god-knows what...but not ok for US soldiers to defend the defenseless. Yipes.

From the mouth of the professor, referring to the United States & its military:

"the American empire and it’s brutal militaristic imposition on the world"

the sounds of John Lennon's "Imagine" came over the loudspeakers, and the 15,000 people in the arena stood, held hands, moved with the music and sang of a world with no countries, a world living life in peace, a world without possessions and greed.

Like wow, kool, pass the bong!

What I try to do is highlight the assumptions of my politics

Ah, yes! And how many students will mimick his politics in order to get on his good side and pass his course? Lets face it, their are alot of sheep in this world, and many will merely "go-along" in order to survive. Not everyone, especially students, that have not found their "way" in life as yet will contradict authority figures because of fear of failure.

Professors and teachers are in a unique situation where they have the ability to mold minds. I prefer their personal opinions not get in the way of developing young minds who otherwise would develope themselves.

But you're talking as if teachers don't always give their opinions. Of course they do.
