RATHER STAYS HOME; EXECUTIVES SPLIT; MOONVES LOOKS TOWARDS FUTURE
*Exclusive**
CBSNEWS veteran Don Hewitt called Dan Rather's disappearance from Monday's Evening News "really stupid" during a damage control meeting on Monday, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
One top source inside the CBS Broadcast Center claimed Rather was told to stay off the air on Monday, as a form of punishment!
Chief Washington Correspondent Bob Schieffer was called in to anchor the damaged ship.
CBS staffers were shocked Monday when CBS president Les Moonves suddenly tied Rather's upcoming resignation to the phony document flap, a departure from CBS's official storyline.
Moonves explained in a memo: "Dan Rather has already apologized for the segment and taken responsibility for his part in the broadcast. He voluntarily moved to set a date to step down from the CBS EVENING NEWS in March of 2005... after examining the report and thinking about its implications, we believe any further action would not be appropriate."
Mapes really has a limited financial future...I can't see any of the major networks hiring her. She'll have to write a book and try political speeches for a while. My bet is that she comes back by the next election...for CBS, again.
Now would be a PERFECT time to FREEP the C-B$
studio where Dan will be broadcasting today.
C-B$ wouldn't carry it, but I betcha other media would.Oh, yeah. I bet FreeRepublic.com would cover it! :^D
President Nixon is up there, smiling down on blather and us.
Way to go Mr President. Justice has now been done.
I'm the left handed one!
...But the words "Rather had only a vague recollection" (P. 71), or "Rather... did not recall" (P. 81) or "Rather did not recall being told at any time... " (P. 93) float through these pages like ghosts of King Lear. The import, of course, is that the heart and soul of CBS News had no clue what was going on,...
Answer the question Mr. RATher!! What did you know and when did you know it??
Your art? HYSTERICAL!
Notice that Kerry just said he'd sign a 180?
And the NEXT DAY--RatherGateMeister calls in sick?
"Lock down the Kinko's, boys, we have a docu-terrorist alert!"
Is this an error by Drudge? Was Rather absent last night or does this refer to the Monday following release of the report?
"Assembling" images is more my speed, like the "Planet of the Mapes" graphic on #23. You can check out www.foreignhead911.com to see a couple of other Kerry material projects.
