A dishonest book claims Lincoln as the first log cabin Republican
THE NOTION that Abraham Lincoln had homosexual A dishonest book claims Lincoln as the first log cabin Republicanexperiences is hardly new. All the way back in 1924, Carl Sandburg's bestselling biography winked at Lincoln's "streak of lavender and spots soft as May violets." And more explicit versions of the idea have appeared in the years since--as signaled by "Log Cabin Republicans," the name chosen by gay members of the GOP for their advocacy group.
But the attempt to use this "Gay Lincoln Theory," making the sixteenth president an icon for modern homosexuals, is now poised to make its biggest push--led by the late C.A. Tripp's The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln, a book published this month by Free Press, a division of Simon & Schuster.
The topic of Lincoln's sexuality keeps reappearing because the available evidence is so tantalizing: a jokey poem he wrote in his youth about a boy marrying a boy, a four-year sleeping arrangement with adored friend Joshua Speed, a marriage sometimes said to be reluctant and less than amorous, a lifelong preference for male company, a documented claim that he shared a bed in the summer White House with his soldier-bodyguard in 1862, and a number of other suggestive items.
C.A. Tripp, who died in 2003, was a well-known sex researcher, a protégé of Alfred Kinsey and the author of a 1975 volume, The Homosexual Matrix. After a decade of pondering Lincoln's relations with men, he pronounces in his posthumously published new book on Lincoln's masturbation habits, seduction style, sex positions, and orgasms. Confidently naming five male lovers of the president, The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln declares the conclusion absolute and obvious that this married father of four was "predominately homosexual."

WTFO? And he got all this information from???
The Log Cabin Republicans and their ilk can go pack fudge! Wait, they already do.
Yeah, more of the same from the Gay Agenda.
I get this all the time. I teach Shakespeare and my students don't know anything about him except that "he was gay."
There is no evidence to suppose that he was gay--none. All the evidence we have supports that he was totally hetero--he "had" to get married at 18, for example.
But that doesn't stop those who WANT him to be gay.
It's a widely known, but not oft discussed, fact that Lincoln wasn't shot by Booth. That was but a cover up. He died of AIDS.
Bruce Catton apparenly found examples of the flirtatious Lincoln and Mary Todd was more that a little jealous on many occasions. Still, there's that pesky AIDS death.
Since we know that Alexander the Great, Inhotep, Julius Caesar, George Washington, Winston Churchill, Jesus Christ, Spartacus and everyone else of note in the world were homosexual, it stands to reason that Lincoln was, as well.
It's a widely known fact that only 10% of the population isn't homosexual. I think that came directy from Kinsey. Finally...
C.A. Tripp, who died in 2003, was a well-known sex researcher, a protégé of Alfred Kinsey...
What else do you think you need to know?
The only remaining mystery is how the human race continued to procreate since EVERYONE was gay. Aliens?
Wasent A. Lincoln born in a log cabin in Kentuckey
Maybe. I guess I find the genereic lass quite attractive, but still only have 3 kids of my own. I'm also way to nondescript to be gay.
Hence the term. He was at the very least the Father of our Log Cabin Republicans.
"But that doesn't stop those who WANT him to be gay."
I know this is naive, but maybe someone can enlightenment me.
What, exactly, does it MEAN to be (or label someone) gay? That the person is really attracted to the same sex? Or just that s/he has the qualities of the opposite sex?
I know effeminate men & tomboys who are married or in heterosexual relationships, so I often found that my own assessment was way off (and probably insulting to them).
So I don't know how people come up with these ideas about Shakespeare or Lincoln, etc. Maybe these figures, simply, displayed certain traits but were mature enough to sublimate them into normal relationships.
Some News reporter just announced that there was a story that "Clinton was Gay". She then screamed and said "Lincoln" and apologized to Bubba. Give the newsreporter a cigar!!

they do so want to be accepted as normal, don't they?
This is just plain mean. For heavens sake.... the man is dead, he did a wonderful job for our country and the best these nitwits can do is speculate about his sexual preferences? I am sure the elk and deer weren't safe around Lincoln either.... geesh... let him rest in peace.
The definition of "gay" in my mind is simply someone who is more sexually aroused and attracted by the same sex than vice-versa.
I think for most people, the definition would mean someone who engages in same-gender sex activity.
There's no evidence Shakespeare was gay. We have a lot of evidence that Marlowe was, however. So it's not as if it's always impossible to know.
Tripp studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology and served in the Navy before immersing himself in the work of Freud during the 1940s.
Beginning in 1948, he worked with Alfred Kinsey at his Institute for Sex Research in Bloomington, Ind., until Kinsey's death in 1956.
Tripp then earned an undergraduate degree from the New School for Social Research and a doctorate in clinical psychology from New York University, eventually establishing a private psychology practice.
Tripp's book "The Homosexual Matrix," a scholarly work published by McGraw-Hill in 1975, set forth new ideas about sexual attraction and sold nearly 500,000 copies.
Author and AIDS activist Larry Kramer said in an interview with The New York Times that the book was the first from a "reputable source" that "dared to speak openly of homosexuality as a healthy occurrence."
He and author Lewis Gannett recently finished a biography of Lincoln that speculates that the former president was gay.
Move along, move along, no agenda to see here!
In an episode of the Simpsons, Marge was trying to hint that a new acquaintance of theirs was gay. She said, "He prefers the company of men." Homer answered, "Who doesn't?"
