Kid Rock at Inaugural 'Shocking'
NewsMax.com ^ | Jan. 6, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

A scheduled appearance by vulgar rock-rapper Kid Rock at a Bush inauguration concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara has shocked conservative supporters.

The rapper’s lyrics often focus on the recreational nature of sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation. In 2000 he appeared in a porn film with well-known porn stars, and he was named the Sluttiest Male Celebrity by MTV.

According to Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, the White House has sent a shocking statement to the millions of families who supported his re-election.

"Kid Rock is an inexcusable choice,” Wildmon said. "His music lyrics serve to teach our young men to disrespect women in a most vile, self serving manner. There's no compassionate conservatism in that philosophy.”

"Obviously, someone on the Presidential Inauguration Committee has made an extremely poor judgment call. The Committee should cancel this invitation immediately,” Wildmon said.

Kid rock was chosen to appear because he was a supporter of President Bush's re-election campaign.

"You forced me to listen to that song, which I have in mp3 format."

I have that effect on people.

Kid Rock is into the country music scene now. He appeared in Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman" video.

I recall one of them being arressted for underage drinking. Now I hear they are inviting a crude and apparently immoral rock group to perform, plus several accounts of their being drunk.

They might grow out of it and might be ok for the most part but they sound more than a little spoiled to me.

I have only read the first few replies but it sounds like there are a lot of people who think it perfectly acceptable to have scum performing at an inaugural event.

This is why John Kerry and Al Gore came so close to being president. The "holier than thou" crowd scares away voters twice their number who would otherwise love to be conservatives.

Conservatism is being high jacked by a small minority (who fancy themselves as a majority) that believes that puritan virtues are all that matters. American sovereignty, property rights, protection of the 2nd amendment, high taxation, and the embracing of socialism are just small, peripheral issues to this group.

What really matters is that some "dirty" words are being said on TV and divorce is no longer considered a sin. Bush would haven't gotten at most 20% of the vote if he had publicly campaigned with this group's vision of America, yet they insist that they were the ones the "elected him".

I don't find it 'shocking'. Kid Rock has supported the troops, he went to Iraq to perform for our Miltary. Inaugural theme is “Celebrating Freedom, Honoring Service”

"better that they are on our side ..."

Yes, but that doesn't obligate us, even politically obligate us, to invite them to perform.

Certainly Bush shouldn't choose the all the performers.
But people who reflect and care about Bush's, and his supporters', values should be able to VETO performances by inappropriate acts. And in fact should.

The deeper I delve into this thread the less likely I am to believe that there was any sarcasm in your post....

But that's no fault of yours.

The real reason they lost, at least I hope so, is maybe people are tired of anyone who tries to stand up for what is right and decent being slandered.

Just maybe people don't want to see trash like Kerry and his wife running this country.

And btw, if they were spoiled, Daddy would have saved the day on any run-ins but instead they faced the consequences. They aren't going to live off the family fortune either, but earn their own way. That does not qualify as "spoiled" in my world.

Your comment is sheer idiocy. I don't pretend to "own the base." I do claim to understand that much of the base would be highly offended to learn these things about an inaugural performer, if indeeed they're true.

You should also consult a dictionary so that you can understand the difference between "interests" and "values" or "beliefs." Not to understand the fundamental difference is to fall into the trap of Nietzschean nihilism -- something that any intelligent conservative ought to educate himself about.

You mean I'm actually expected to respond to idiocy like this??:

"So what time is the messiah scheduled to show up to do his act?"

Simply pitiful.

That's it!!! President Bush should ban his own daughters from any inauguration ceremonies because they've been very, very naughty and embarrass the president.....

We should demand a morality quiz and moral background check for party attendees. We wouldn't want a Bush daughter or Kid Rock smearing the parties image...

Sorry, but to some here if you've EVER ever ever done anything wrong in your life or anything a little tasteless you are to be shunned for all time.

There's no hope of redemption in the minds of these (little) people.
