"Whether the slight was intentional or not, the selection was not appropriate," he wrote, noting that "Dixie" is often associated with slavery. "
In what universe is that?!?!?!

I still smile when I think of the story about how Jesse Helms started whistling Dixie when Carol Moseley Brown entered the Senate elevator with him.

O, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.
In Dixie Land where I was born in
Early on one frosty mornin'
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.
Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!
Old Missus marry Will, the weaver,
William was a gay deceiver
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.
But when he put his arm around her
He smiled as fierce as a forty pounder
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.
Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!
His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver
But that did not seem to grieve her
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.
Old Missus acted the foolish part
And died for a man that broke her heart
Look away! Look away!
Look away! Dixie Land.
Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie!
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away,
Away down south in Dixie!

Lemme see. Last I looked we were in America. Last I looked a person didn't have the "right" to be offended. Tough. This arrogant pig is so twitchy about slavery. Dixie was associated with the Confederate sates army and fighting anthem. I don't believe it had anything to do with slavery directly. Next they'll be saying you can't play "America". Personally I find Rap music more offensive than Dixie ever was. Correct me if I'm wrong... please.

"A simple apology is what's needed," Schultz said, The hell you say. There is no apology needed for playing "Dixie." The hypersensitive professional victim should apologize to the band for the criticism, if anything!

After Lee's surrender at a White House celebration Lincoln asked a band to play Dixie because he thought it was a nice song and didn't want it to be banned.

It isn't as if some deep voiced white man came with a boom stick and gathered up the blacks (to work on his corn farm). What a joke.

Sen. Spencer Coggs (D), who is black, an idiot ...
There ... fixed it. The Honorable (spit) Mr. Coggs' most definitive trait is not the colour of his skin, but the (lack of) content of his character.
