Lemme see. Last I looked we were in America. Last I looked a person didn't have the "right" to be offended. Tough. This arrogant pig is so twitchy about slavery. Dixie was associated with the Confederate sates army and fighting anthem. I don't believe it had anything to do with slavery directly. Next they'll be saying you can't play "America". Personally I find Rap music more offensive than Dixie ever was. Correct me if I'm wrong... please.

"Last I looked a person didn't have the "right" to be offended. "

Unless it's a Christian at Christmas time complaining about nativity scenes and merchants saying "Happy Holidays".

Actually, we do have the right to be offended. We also have the right to ignore/lambast/scorn idiots who are constantly finding offense in ways that make no sense.

Remember a few years ago, when there was a big brouhaha over someone publicly using the word "niggardly" (i.e., stingy) because they thought it had racist roots? That turned out to be utter nonsense.

Several years ago, one of my male colleagues was berated by a feminist colleague for using the term "rule of thumb" because it was supposedly rooted in the thickness of a branch that a man could use to beat his wife. That was another piece of nonsense.

Maybe we should start a thread about all the left-wing psuedo-history and garbage that is taken as truth, but turns out to be utterly bogus. Now that stuff offends my sensibilities.

Even if it is, it's part of the history of our land. I also don't believe it to do with slavery--doesn't defend or glorify the practice.

Okay, you're wrong. Offensive is not nearly a strong enough word, much of rap music makes merely offensive music seem like lemon meringue pie by comparison. Calling it offensive is like calling a midsummer day in Death Valley "slightly uncomfortable".

Oh, HONESTLY!! "The Right to never be offended?" I am SO SICK of the touchy libs. It gives power to the thin-skinned self-righteous ones at the expense of everyone else. Why doesn't anyone challenge it? "You are offended? Tough."

This arrogant pig is so twitchy about slavery.

He is NOT a pig. He is a 'Black Man Speaking Truth To Power'.

...or in this case 'Speaking Truth to a High School Marching Band' which is roughly the same thing...
