Release Number: 04-12-65

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOLDIERS DISCOVER, SEIZE MULTIPLE WEAPONS CACHES

AR RAMADI, Iraq -- Soldiers from an engineer battalion in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Marine Division of the I Marine Expeditionary Force discovered 18 separate weapons caches during sweeping operations on Dec. 28 and on Dec. 29 in Ramadi.

The 44th Engineer Battalion, which has been serving in Iraq since August, discovered complete mortar systems, mortar and artillery rounds, rockets, explosive material used in roadside bombs, and various types of small arms and ammunition.

The number of discovered caches demonstrates the brigade's successes in decreasing the enemy's inventory of weapons and munitions. Weapons and munitions included mortar shells, homemade grenade launchers, assault rifles, anti-personnel landmines, anti-tank mines and various forms of ammunition.

The discovery, seizure and subsequent destruction of the weapons caches, greatly reduces anti-Iraqi forces' ability to launch attacks against Multi-National forces and innocent Iraqis.

What else is new? The American soldiers are doing their jobs and fighting this war valiantly. Unfortunately, the MSM will refuse to cover the fight to defend our freedom or they will totally ignore the progress that is being made.

How true. One would think they would have learned to be more "fair & balenced" after George W. won on Nov. 2nd. To me this was clear evidence the majority of Americans dont buy their BS. But considering they continue to cover nothing but the negative in Iraq and subsequently act as mouthpeices for the insurgency, its a safe bet they have not learned a thing.

I agree. Especially foreign terrorists. Catch them, and as soon as it is determined that they are foreigners, execute them very publicly.

The liberals cry about how badly the Iraqui's were hurt by the sanctions, yet we see Millions of dollars in the form of weapons buried all over the country. The Sanctions didnt stop Saddam from buying weapons from France and Germany or paying for them with oil for food money.

The UN should close their doors they arent to be trusted, France and Germany and Russia Havent been allies to us in years. If they had obeyed Sanctions we wouldnt have to be in Iraq now if the UN handt allowed Sddam to use the oil for food money to buy weapons we wouldnt be in Iraq now. This isnt George Bush's war this war is on the conscience of the UN France Germany and Russia.

This is part of the stories you will never hear on the Evening News with Dan Blather and his other partners-in-crime.

This is why it is so very important for the elections to be held in January. The new government, once in place, can make these decisions about foreign fighters as well as those Baathists who are still running guns and planning terrorist actions. If the Iraqi govt. does this dirty work, the US soldiers can just step back and let them have at it! The govt. will have every right to punish those who foment violence and agitate for the overthrow of the govt.
