The 'Lethal Weapon' star then called his agent

Sure, that's the first thing I'd do after escaping drowning.

Why did you change the last line of the story? The linked story reads:

"The 'Fist Of Legend' star then called his agent and informed him that he had managed to escape from the deadly tsunami."

"Fist of Legend" is a great Jet Li movie, one of his best.

Dumb move calling his agent. Had he played dead for a few days he would have become world renowned and his career would have skyrocketed. Now, with the exception of this article he will continue to live in relative obscurity.

The article's author. Now admittedly, the "Kerala Times" version of English may not accurately convey what actually happened ...

Maybe he thought his agent would be concerned for him and his family.

Relative obscurity? Sorry bro, but this guy is hugely famous. Just because you may not have heard of him does not make him obscure. Many call him the 2nd coming of Bruce Lee.

I guess you are a Karate fan... it's still relative obscurity. Most people don't follow the martial arts scene. However, if people thought he was dead, he would be on the front page of every newspaper in the world.

Romeo Must Die, Kiss of the Dragon, Cradle2 the Grave, and The One are among my favorite Jet Li movies. I have Hero on DVD, hopefully I'll find time to watch it over the New Year's weekend. I'm glad to hear he and his daughter are safe.

True, but maybe letting the people who care about him know he had survived was more important to him than capitalizing on a huge tragedy. FYI, his mainstream movies released in the US have made a ton of money. I guess there are a lot of karate fans out there.

Maybe so, it's possible that I am clueless on the subject. However, when it comes to Karate, Mr. Miyagi is still my man.

His US films have made a ton of money, and I always watch his new releases, but IMHO they stink next to his older Chinese films.

God saved Jet and his daughter....had he been on the beach....or on low ground he would have been in a giant washing machine of debris and jagged metal....

Many strong swimmers and whole families on the beach...did not make out alive

Here's a list of his first movies. In my opinion the early ones are much better than the later Hollywood junk. I'd recommend Shaolin Temple and The Legend of Fong Sae Yuk, which is pretty funny. Once Upon a Time in China is about how the Chinese freed themselves from their imperial western masters, which may or may not please western viewers. Historically, it was the European powers who moved into China in the 19th century, and America stood off from the division of spoils.

1982
Shaolin Temple

1984
Shaolin Temple 2: Kids from Shaolin

1986
