place marking and heading home.....
Good night folks. Have a great weekend.
That first article is a tad extreme IMO. This winter has been characterized by a weak el-nino pattern that has been giving the west coast quite a lot of precipitation. This, in comination with a stronger than normal sub-tropical jetstream, has produced storm after storm. Many of these storms have gone over the same regions for several weeks.
The storm now affecting the west will move East over the coming days, causing some troubles, but I do not foresee it being any worse than the one that just affected much of the nation. In fact, it will likely affect much smaller portions of the general population.
LOL, I resemble that remark (as I watch Noah building an unusual structure for 'sunny' CA.
Thanks much:)'s
Sorry. ;)

"Pro Al Qaeda, Taliban jehadis behind recent terrorism" (Pakistan)
Daily Times ^ | Sat January 8 2005

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "KARACHI: Recent attacks on Christians and Westerners in Pakistan were part of a coordinated campaign by Pakistani Islamic militant groups linked to Al Qaeda and the Taliban, The Washington Post said on Saturday, quoting military and security sources.
Hours after a grenade attack on a chapel at a Presbyterian hospital killed three people on Friday morning, top security aides to President Pervez Musharraf told him they had intelligence reports that factions of at least two banned Pakistani groups had joined forces for attacks on Westerners and Christians, senior officials familiar with the briefing said.
Security officials said that the top leaders of the banned groups, Harkat ul-Mujahideen and Jaish Muhammad, voluntarily informed Pakistani intelligence officials that some of their trained elements had broken ranks to form anti-Christian, anti-West strike groups.
A full-fledged local Al Qaeda is now active in Pakistan, a security official said. We have got it from the horses mouth.
Harkat ul-Mujahideen and Jaish Muhammad are two of the most prominent Pakistani Islamic militant groups supporting a 13-year-old guerrilla war in the divided region of Kashmir that is aimed at ending Indian rule there."

U.S., Iraqi Officials Fear 'Spectacular' Attacks
BAGHDAD, Iraq A U.S. general and Iraq's interim leader offered separate warnings about the very real prospect that more deadly attacks would come before the Iraqi elections on Jan. 30.
"I think a worst case is where they have a series of horrific attacks that cause mass casualties in some spectacular fashion in the days leading up to the elections," Air Force Brig. Gen. Erv Lessel told The Associated Press in an interview Friday.

Yep.
Good find by Archaean.
The Taliban (Taleban) has never completely deceased, but they are still
active. How active they really are is the question.
That's interesting.
Thank you LiberallyConservative.
