That first article is a tad extreme IMO. This winter has been characterized by a weak el-nino pattern that has been giving the west coast quite a lot of precipitation. This, in comination with a stronger than normal sub-tropical jetstream, has produced storm after storm. Many of these storms have gone over the same regions for several weeks.
The storm now affecting the west will move East over the coming days, causing some troubles, but I do not foresee it being any worse than the one that just affected much of the nation. In fact, it will likely affect much smaller portions of the general population.
LOL, I resemble that remark (as I watch Noah building an unusual structure for 'sunny' CA.
